You don’t get everything you want, nowhere near it, and negotiation is unavoidable in order to get anything passed in Congress - even amongst just the Republicans, much less adding the Democrats to the mix. You know how they say things are “weird” but they’re usually not in the sense that it’s been thrown around here lately? Well, it’s legit weird that a bunch of adults don’t understand the above-described life reality almost at all.

I need these republicans to come back with the most ridiculous projects left in the bill.

And do it until we can all collectively go, “eh, ok that’s not so bad let’s pass it.”

There was a shite ton of outrage followed by transparency with the last bill. The Republicans are happier with this one, but haven’t offered us any transparency.

They can shut the frick up until they explain the numbers in the new one.

Why are we not holding them to that standard?

I don’t think that’s entirely accurate, looking at the no votes on the R side

I'm sure that's not the intent, but it will be the result.

Hopefully a government shutdown until January 20, 2025 where Americans will realize most government spending is bullshite.

POTUS and unelected oligarch telling Congress vote how we tell you to vote or else is very much what the founders were looking for when they came up with this system

Benjamin Franklin like Musk was unelected but the nations leading innovator(Musk also being the nations leading industrialist) and the founders could have never imaged the mess this country has turned into. Ultimately their system had some flaws in it.

I see what you’re saying now. I hope that’s not the case.

I appreciate Elon’s interest in making government more efficient.

But politics is not business. And when you try to run the country like a business, you get things like this.

You seriously haven’t noticed that nearly every single person amongst us has his own list of demands and deviation from each his list equals unacceptable failure? How about you tell us what your list of expectations is, and what on that list you are willing to sacrifice, knowing you aren’t going to check all those boxes. Or do you personally not find that scenario acceptable?

I’m pretty sure Trump’s overarching mantra and approach is based on business type concepts. Am I off about that line of thinking?

yes, please- for once.

I see it just like the climate change alarmism. When the world hasn't ended the last 18 times they predicted it would at least people start to notice.

In the second week in Jan. everybody (barring emergencies/catastrophes) will ask... "wait, that's still going on? Why were they throwing tantrums again?"

Do you actually support an unlimited ceiling?

Real leaders make hard decisions knowing they’ll be blasted and attacked. Its what separates real leaders from people who run the truck off the cliff.

No. I don’t support liberal ideology either but I don’t think it’s quite possible to avoid it. Y’all remember Trump’s walkout song for a while there being “can’t always get what you want”? That was a pretty cogent point he intended to make.

What in the bill makes you figure an unlimited ceiling was worth it?

The trade value?

But you do acknowledge that that’s not always going to align with exactly what YOU want and expect though, right?

I don’t understand “conservatives” that complained about the debt and Biden for four years supporting a bill with an unlimited debt ceiling.

I thought we wanted to reign in spending?

Republicans control the House and Senate and Presidency.

All they have to do is cut spending. All this does is force them to make deals with Dems in the summer.

Not yet. And they won’t if TeamTrump keeps undercutting their allies that are ostensibly trying to implement the policies he ran on.

It's going to be just like last time. Any republican that doesn't kiss his ring will be vilified while he schmoozes with dems to get shite passed.
