Just pointing out if layoffs is the biggest problem then we all should be for a shut down. You only listed layoffs

POTUS and unelected oligarch telling Congress vote how we tell you to vote or else is very much what the founders were looking for when they came up with this system

Man I’m confused.
So we need to pass one of these things to keep paying gov employees?
So don’t pass, bad.
Do pass, REALLY bad.
Do you just want the tiniest bill possible that will keep the gov folks employed? That sounds like a good idea to me.
We’ve got people on both sides arguing for and against passing the bill. I can’t wrap my mind around it.

What are the 3 biggest problems with a government shutdown?

Layoffs.
They've been "home for Christmas" since Feb. 2020 anyway. Just send 'em a text.
IRS is first. The rest you can do alphabetically after you tell Zelensky he's getting a lump of Donbas coal in his stocking.
I have an idea- instead of giving Iran another $10 billion dollars send it to NC to tide them over.

No but the agreement was just between the GOP members. Nobody asked the Democrats.

Do you want this 2nd bill passed as is?

8 years into this "process" you speak of.
Starting to think it isn't going to get done there chief.

I think it would cut a lot of aid that goes to farmers and ranchers is my understanding.

I’m not going to pretend to have read it but I probably would have voted for the second bill based on what’s reported.

So you like that Elon cut the bill to 100 pages, just don’t like the method?

Then we see who voted not to fund them?

The problem is not the bill, it's the process. Trump is forced to spend political capital before he's even in office
There's no reason at all that Musk and Vivek couldn't have done this behind the scenes weeks prior to this vote, if they hated the pork so much.
That would've been plenty of time to get the votes for their 2nd slim bill, instead of forcing it publicly and putting it to 12 hours.
Now Trump wants to primary and run purity tests with a 5 seat advantage in Congress? How is he going to get the rest of his agenda passed if a spending bill is this much trouble?

I’m saying Congress has a role and a voice that shouldn’t be pushed aside for Trump or Elon’s whims.

Their interpretation abilities are amazing. They can craft their dissonance into 6D chess in amazing time.

This is the big difference between the parties. Dems will do something evil and immoral and it’s expected so nobody cares. Repubs do something practical and are wetting their pants because the other side might think they’re mean.
