If you were tased you would be stopped. It’s that simple.

So are we not buying the response that the shooting was over in a matter of minutes? After listening today are they saying everyone was killed early on?
Are they saying this so the police do not look bad for not entering sooner?

A lot of cop bashers in here thinking they are tough

frick off! If the cops weren’t going in to stop it, then they should have gotten out of the way while the real men went in.
And then in the real world they taze you and arrest you to prevent you from going in.
I'm not saying cops didn't apparently frick this up. They did. But on the separate issue of not allowing parents to go in themselves....yeah obviously not.

Cops primary, stated goals in all situations:
1)protect their own life
2)protect the lives of other officers
At best protecting the lives of others, including children come in after this
This is why private ownership of guns is important. You are responsible for your own safety, cops are there to put people in body bags and write reports when they are sure all cops are safe

Yeah, it probably would stop me. Temporarily. But here’s the thing, my son’s school was locked down just last week due to an event that included a gun very very near the campus. When I went to pick him up there were cops all over the place. I had no idea any of this was going on until I was there. I got on campus through a back entrance and got my son. I don’t scare easy and my son is coming home. If some stupid bastard tries to make that difficult I have no problem escalating things. Again, not a hero. But I’m getting my kid and any of his friends that need help. There is no other option.

I know there are parents saying that “he’s still shooting” but I wasn’t able to hear any shots being fired. I wish there was a way to know the time that was recorded.
This is my question about the video as well. If the cops were out there holding people back while shots were being actively fired and no one was responding to the school then holy hell and WTF.
But with all the internet outrage factories out there it’s possible the video was taken after the shooting was done and somebody presented it as it occurred during.
Regardless though, 40 minutes without making entry is something beyond awful.

Uvalde has a SWAT team of their own? Holy shite I thought the hour delay was to waiting for a tactical response from out of town. Even off duty, they're what like 10 minutes away in a town the size of Uvalde.

It has nothing to do with being tough or not. Cops were trained, they were on the scene, they were armed, and they sat outside. Inside unarmed defenseless 10-year-olds were being murdered. Do you not see a problem with that scenario?

Then you are an idiot. Thanks for pointing that out. You just proved your kids school is not a safe school. Better switch schools I guess.

You dont think there is any truth to this? I think all LEO have to double think situations now. Its fricking absurd. You can thank George Floyd and democrats for that
There’s an easier answer. They were scared.

They didn’t follow protocol. Shut up.
If they followed protocol, they wouldn’t have erased 18 minutes from their scanner. They would be answering questions from the media.

A cops #1 job is to follow protocol and be able to go home after their shift. Not be Rambo and charge into a school.

Yeah. I was trying to look for a watch and zoom in. But I’m on my phone right now. I honestly can’t tell. If this perimeter was formed while the shootings were taking place… literal heads need to roll.

quote:I don't think that's the best way to describe it. Being scared or afraid isn't a problem. I was scared during every 911 hangup I got dispatched to. I was afraid while knocking on every door of a dom batt I was dispatched to. I was worried every time I walked up on a car I stopped.
There’s an easier answer. They were scared.
I was always scared, worried, afraid...
But I was prepared and confident in being able to do my job to the best of my ability.
I think these men and women were scared. No doubt. But I also think they were wholly unprepared. No idea what to do when the shite hit the fan.
I don't think you're wrong, but I also don't think it's the whole story. Lack of preparation, lack of confidence, lack of a plan...I think those were all far larger factors than being scared.

Or maybe you’re a coward and have no problems with kids being slaughtered. How fricked is that?

Then please explain protocol wise one. Perimeter is first. Someone setting perimeter is not going to just enter the building. Did the department have a good plan set up? Probably not. It's not the responding cops fault.
