Several years ago I remember reading an short comparison of the top civilizations in history, and the top 10 things they all had in common that caused them to crash. I've been looking for this book if anyone knows what it might be. I tried searching but no luck. Maybe I suck at "internet search" and someone can prove it so!!! Thanks for your help.

Rome fell because of the consequences of climate change…Yes, I don’t care if you cry about it.

The continuing embrace of Christianity in the period from about 100 AD to Constantine probably blunts the Western part of the empire's degradation. But the thing that really sets it in fast motion was the Goths that were allowed in en masse in what amounted to about a week
The East and Constantinople though flourishes from 300 to about 700 AD. Guess what is the 2 things that set it in motion? Justinian's plague followed the Arab ( Muslim) invasion from the South that halves the population and the Muslims halve the territory.

What if they are using the past as a guide on how to destroy the American Empire and replace it with their Globalized government?

How did the Eastern Empire continue on for so long? What were the differences?

The essential cause of Rome’s decline lay in her people, her morals, her class struggle, her failing trade, her bureaucratic despotism, her stifling taxes, her consuming wars.
That about sums it up here.

Technology may be forever changing but little else is new under the sun. These glorious utopian ideals — in some variant — have all been tried before.

Did I misspeak? Ariel Durant was first Will Durant’s student and then his eventual wife. The first few volumes of the SoC were credited to Will alone as Ariel served as Will’s research assistant. Caesar And Christ is indeed dedicated to Ariel. You fricking moron.

That is masterpiece of historical analysis. And an accurate assessment of our current cultural and societal dynamic. Nothing new under the sun. Thank you for this post.
