Apparently the coast guard radars have caught what they think are what sounds like banging on metal. So maybe there is a chance, but again their is less than a day left of oxygen...if they've calculated it right of course.

The water pressure at those depth is over 5,700 psi. If there is a crack in that sub at those depths death is instantaneous. Bodies would not be recognizable.

This boring 50+ white man would have told him not to use carbon fiber in a compression state just to save money. From what I can tell he didn't go through any sort of external certification process, which for something this critical was just insane.

That's not really true, because your body is mostly water. Instant death to be sure, but our bodies don't deform under uniform hydraulic pressure. If they did divers would look really funny.

Good. It's fitting that he is with them now, being 'inspired' at the bottom of the sea.
I also suspect that it's the experienced 50 year old white guys who rejected him, not the other way around. Given what we know about the construction of this sub, that scenario makes way more sense. So he did some PR bullshite and said that no, he was doing it for DEI.
