2018 is gonna be even uglier for Repugs.

The current U.S. Senate has 52 Republicans and 48 Democrats (including two independents). The 2018 Senate election takes place on November 6, 2018. There are 34 seats up in 2018, of which 25 are held by Democrats.
And your party is bankrupt, both literally and figuratively.

I still think the majority of this country is composed of rational, decent people of which Dems are not.

The takeaway is demographics. Since the early 2000s the expansion of liberals from DC into northern VA has outnumbered the votes from rural areas of the state. No real shock here. As for NJ Christie was the first Repub Gov in several years. Its not like a Dem won shite in a Republican stronghold.

Chew on this proggy.
quote:
Republicans are defending far fewer seats, and only two GOP senators are considered truly vulnerable: Sens. Jeff Flake of Arizona and Dean Heller of Nevada. Meanwhile, 10 Senate Democrats are up for-election in states that Trump won in 2016, and they all have targets plastered on their backs.

The takeaway is Democrats are dirty fricking cock sucking cockroaches. That count ran the most despicable underhanded ads I have seen in my life, and these people choose to blindly follow him and that behavior.
They will still attempt to take the moral high ground and talk down on trump and his supporters. These people are not salvageable, let’s split the country or put them in concentration camps and be done with this farce of unity

The takeaway is don't run GOPe candidates. Run Trump Nationalist candidates.
Yeah, I'm sure a Trump nationalist would have crushed in Northern Va.
This has always been a weaker state for Trumpism so I'm not really sure if there is much of a takeaway even though I'm sure the left will want to make it into one.

Well, losses are coming in the midterms. That's how it historically works. The President's party normally loses seats in midterm elections, no matter what the parties. The opposition party always has an enthusiasm edge.
It's Republican's job to limit the losses, and like you said, the best way that can be done is to govern effectively.
