First, I don’t take this result tonight as some repudiation of Trump, given that Democrats have held the VA Governor’s office for a while. The takeaway I have is that Democrats did very well in getting their voters to turn out, showing that they are clearly energized and eager to support Democratic candidates.

So, if Republicans want to do well in the midterms next year, they have to actually get major legislation passed, if they don’t, they’re in bad shape. They simply can’t rely on the same old lines that the can use with a Democratic President or on voter turnout because Democratic turnout will be great. They will need something substantive on their records to overcome that Democratic turnout.

The takeaway is don't run GOPe candidates. Run Trump Nationalist candidates.

No, but you guys act like this is some historical event.

The last 5 PRESIDENTS saw their party lose control of the NJ and VA governor mansion in the year after their election. That is a remarkable stat.

Obama lost more than ONE THOUSAND seats for his party over 8 years. Where is your input on that?

There isn’t really a large sample size to make that determination. They didn’t do well, tonight, but they were the underdogs anyway. Republicans have done well in multiple special elections that have occurred over the last year.

They won't win California or New York either. Am I a political genius?

That’s the story of every election. When Democrats get sufficient turn out they steamroll Republicans. 2018 is gonna be even uglier for Repugs.

As long as progressive loons just keep being themselves, I think we will be fine. You guys are better than any campaign ad or policy success for helping conservative turnout. I'm not too concerned. I still think the majority of this country is composed of rational, decent people.

You’ve completely missed the point of my post. What I am saying isn’t about Virginia.

Toddy, any election not won by a Republican is a repudiation of Trump in your mind. Yet, you probably wouldn’t think the same way if it were Hillary and Democrats had lost.

Like when Trump Junior said the election was tomorrow?

Or when Trump said to vote on the wrong day?

Don't act like you're interested in high level political discourse. You got 2 coherent replies to your gotcha attempt, and you ignored them. But you reply within minutes to the low hanging fruit.

Better look at those independent numbers as well. High dem turnout plus trump turning off independents does not bode well for the Cheetos
