re: The Bible: Gay vs Pork
quote:

Pork is a cleanliness thing. We can now practice adequate food safety when eating pork so not an issue. It doesn’t relate here. It’s comparable to the kocher kitchen requirements, which we also don’t need to follow anymore bc of food safety in modern era

Same could be said about the circumcision vs all natural. Unless the OP wants to try to make this a gotcha, cause then his leftie friends will get upset as this is something they don't like being done to babies.

Moral law (homosexualty, 7th commandment) vs. ceremonial law (dietary and other laws of separation abrogated with Christ's death on the cross).

Absolutely. If the church had taken good care of the sacrament of marriage, the argument against homosexual marriage would be much clearer and more obvious. It’s only the watered down version of a temporary, convenience marriage for fulfillment’s sake that homosexual marriage can compare to with any sort of favor.

This is spot on. I could not agree more with both you and aub's agreements.

.... pure crap coming from your mouth. When I say "we", I mean the nation, as a whole. When was the last post on TD about liars? How often do politicians rant against liars and adulterers? How many non-religious organizations take stands against homosexuality, but never mention liars and adulterers?

Why do think David Vitter lost 6 years ago?

re: The Bible: Gay vs Pork
I know many of you are not really interested, but if you really want the answer to this question then read this book.

How Not To Read The Bible by Dan Kimball is the book linked below.

LINK

Extreme cliff notes are....some things in the old covenant (old deal) don't apply to the new covenant (new deal found in the New Testament set up by Jesus).

All the old covenant things had a particular purpose and many of those things are totally misunderstood.

However, many of you are just trying to find "flaws" in the Bible to justify your love of sin. Well, I beg you in love to repent and turn to God. It is not worth it in the end after your last breath. Hell is real. Please believe me.

Mark 7.
And he layeth down the boom...(NIV)
quote:

17 After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. 18 “Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? 19 For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)

20 He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

Christians love to point out that homosexuality is a sin. The bible says the same thing about eating pork. So when are christians going to speak out against pork like the do when it comes to homosexuality?

We curse homosexuals, but don't think twice about liars, adulterers, etc.

Aren't there laws that punish forms of lying and adulatory?

Not sure about your Church/community, but I don't know any that tell their children its ok to lie and commit adulatory like people seem to think its ok to teach children about homosexuality.

Bacon, good.

Queers, odd.

Old testament = old school.

I read this comment and smiled, as I just finished up a straight-off-the-smoker pulled pork sammich that a coworker brought me for lunch.

What does Bible say about eating pork? In Leviticus 11:27, God forbids Moses and his followers to eat swine

You answered the question.

Christians are not followers of Moses. We are followers of Christ. Jews are still followers of Mosaic Law.

There are biblical grounds for divorce.

But not for remarriage. You have to stay single.

Not true. In Matthew 19, Jesus connects divorce and remarriage as sin except in the case of sexual immorality. The point being that except in a few use cases (physical adultery and desertion), a couple is still married in God's eyes and thus it would be considered adultery to remarry in such circumstances.
