I'm involved in the gun culture in two of the most conservative areas in this country, and everyone is welcomed with open arms and we all have a great fricking time.

Don't ever let a Democrat make you feel intimidated to go to a shooting range

B-I-N-G-F'N-O!

See that avatar to the left? That's what I do. In my 9 years of working at a range, I've never once seen a shooter not stop and help someone else if they were asked. I've more often seen shooters volunteer to help a shooter next to them when they see someone with an issue or unsure of what they're doing.

Most of us shooters, even if not Range Safety Officers, are safety conscious and we will stop to help someone if we see an unsafe issue. If we see someone a couple lanes down disassembling a firearm and see they don't have correct tools we offer them ours if we have what they need. Honestly, I feel it's one of the most friendly and accepting communities or environments there is.

Also, if your'e in the New Orleans Metro area, come out to Honey Island Shooting Range one day. You'd be shocked at how diverse our shooters are!

I've never understood how being the fatal victim of a gunshot is worse than the fatal victim of a beating or stabbing. Dead is dead. In fact, I'd rather be shot to death than beat to death.

I certainly would, too, but the argument is that the beating likely isn’t to the death.

There’s a reason the argument was framed this way -

An April study from the Annals of Internal Medicine, which surveyed more than half a million Californians, found that people who live with handgun owners are shot to death at a higher rate than those who live in gun-free homes. Women made up 84% of victims.

If the data told them gun owners are murdered at a higher rate than non-owners, they’d have made that argument because it’s more compelling than the one they did.

It’s like all you read about the super successful Australian gun ban. Did you know suicide by firearm plummeted in Australia after the gun ban? It’s part of the super successful narrative. You read it all the time. A big win for gun control advocates. But they don’t mention that the suicide rate in Australia actually went up significantly after the ban. People just used a rope or drugs more often, but they’re just as dead as they’d be with a bullet in their head.

Their arguments re: murder and mass murder are similarly flawed.

Agreed. The point they made - that people who live in homes without guns are shot less - is very trivial. I bet men who live in homes without women are less likely to be married, too.

I’ve been at the range one night when a group of minorities walked in. They were immediately stopped at the door, told to walk out, read the sign, comply, and enter.

These idiots walked in openly carrying a firearm which was not in an open locked position and wondered why the white guys behind the counter were pissed.

Meh. I'll give anyone a pass on their first time in a new environment. If they went out, read the rules then were in compliance when they came in then I have no problems with it.

It's the asshats who, when told they aren't following the rules and that they need to in order to participate, lose their shite.

Are going for extra points with the gender neutral language?
