"Its okay if the Asians are unfairly treated because it lets us stick it to those evil whites! So what if Asians are collateral damage?"

So, ACLU, is your point that it is okay to disadvantage the liberties of a race as long as they are white? I mean the lawsuit clearly also would benefit asian-americans, but if it also benefits white americans, that makes it a bad ruling?
I'll wait for their response

So, when the liberals say that no one is out to get white people, they are lying?

How would a lawsuit regarding Asians with better qualifications for acceptance to Harvard being screwed over to accommodate other minority groups benefit white people?

I'm gonna need some background on this one

You're not aware of the Asians vs Harvard lawsuit?

It is basically asian-americans claiming that Harvard's acceptance should be based more on academic standards than racial quotas. There was a thread a while back that broke down the # of students currently accepted by race and what the numbers would be if it was based on merit alone, and Asian-Americans were way underrepresented currently.

That twitter feed is an absolute train wreck.

So they're saying accepting based on merit will give whites an advantage?
That's kinda the point of having entrance standards.

Because if the lawsuit is successful it would prevent discriminating based on race. It would force school to consider merit only and stop racial preferences.
Whites are the largest group demographically so Harvard would get more Asians and more Whites.

i'm not even sure that would happen, considering how badly the asian population would dominate
basically the ACLU is arguing that whites benefit b/c there would be more minority representation, just not black/brown representation
getting into this argument would legit require getting into racial minutia that i'm sure nobody at the ACLU would feel comfortable in discussing...but since they veil the argument as a "white people" one, i guess it's ok? they are, however, 100% showing the argument by the Asian litigants

Yea, the ACLU is basically saying: don't be mistaken, this lawsuit from asian-americans that would increase acceptance quality standards at Harvard, would also really help white americans who are also disadvantaged statistically, and that is bad. #protectdiversity because we only protect the civil liberties of certain races.

If one is to drill down, the ACLU is basically saying that they believe black people can’t get into Harvard at current rates under a purely merit based system.
Amirite?
Amirite?

This is correct.
Blacks get up to a 250 point bonus on their SATs
The real problem with doing this is it actually puts those Blacks at a disadvantage to graduate.
And the ones that make it on merit get thought of as being less than they are.
It is a fundamental flaw that has come with affirmative action.

I'd love to see their argument. I tend to be an ACLU supporter in principal, but they go off the rails occasionally. This would seem to be one of those times.

Pelosi said a week or two ago, that if there is collateral damage, so be it.

Yeah apparently test scores are racist. Who knew?

White kids would be less represented. In fact, I saw one study where support for affirmative action goes up in white Americans once they are faced with the superior test scores and grades of Asian-Americans (I might be remembering this study incorrectly though, trying to find it right now).
In general, I'm very confused as to why the parenting styles of Asian families haven't been adopted more widely, as they have shown a lot of success.
