Cancer or a heart attack is safer than this.

I've wondered where that guy has ended up.

The next Repub admin needs to find him and root his anti-American ilk out. What's our militaries "Siberia" nowadays?

The argument that "This is what happens so it just happens" is such an intellectually dishonest response.

Sometimes I feel like society has become too civilized. If me or an agent acting on my behalf has not rented my house to you...then you got 24 hours to GTFO. All this legalese is just about screwing over the property owner. It shouldn't take months to do the right thing.

This guy does evictions out of Memphis(I think). Anyway, some of the stories and excuses he gets are crazy.

How is it not criminal trespassing? Squatters rights are bullshite

I’d break into the house one night and that fricker would disappear forever. “I guess he finally moved out officer”

This. I’d forcefully remove them myself, tie them up and drop them off in middle of nowhere 100 miles away. All while having a friend clean up my house of all their items while I’m gone.

So what if they go to police? “Sorry officer, never seen this person in my life before. I live here and here is my documentation to prove it. Please take this crazy person away from my property”

Good God, you are a anarchist supporting POS.

What part of breaking into a locked home, and setting up shop..appears "crimeless" to you?

A secured and maintained house at rest, with owner/inhabitant abroad, without live-in butlers, sentinels, and guard dogs, is not an abandoned property.

Were you born with some dots unconnected? Did it take training to become like this? Where and when did the indoctrination process happen?

We need fewer laws and more whipping of arse. The laws don't work and seemingly protect the wealthy and the poor. Not the regular guy.

Laws are supposed to protect the innocent and their property/business. Punish the criminals.

It’s opposite these days

Fins local gang, pay them $2500 to remove Probably get it done for a couple cases of beer. I wouldn't trust the legal system at all. Just make it happen.

The Sopranos episode where they pull the HUD scam did this. Paid a youth gang to run out the squatters

So, you are upset that this is a civil dispute under local law rather than a criminal matter? She has to file an eviction. Egads, it is almost like Mad Max.

She should be able to remove him from the property based on her ownership.

And the protections of the leasee should be a civil matter following that.

So what’s stopping her from just going in the house and staying. It’s her house, she has paperwork that she owns the house. The guy had an obvious fake lease.

If it was me, I’m just going take the A/C unit out. It’s technically hers, can’t go to jail for stealing your own shite.

Sucks, but that is the law, yes.
When the law protects the lawless, then it's time to ignore the law. Enough is enough, and this falls into that category.

Layer nonsense. She tells the cops he invaded her home, a poor single BLACK woman trying o make a living. He threatened her and called her THE WORD, you know THE WORD. And if they dont want to deal with it she can immediately start calling the TV stations to come down and look at these racist cops who dont believe black lives matter.

Now she can call her lawyer (preferably someone competent which would exclude those on this thread) to sue DeKalb country for hate crimes and make bank. She would not win but they would pay a lot of money to get off the daily news.

Trespass is a criminal matter, is it not? It seems to be a logical perversion to treat trespass as a civil eviction item just because the trespasser used fraud in the form of a false lease and duration.

Based on the facts as stated, this is not a case of simple trespass. You have something of a point, but how is law enforcement expected to act in the face of a real or bogus lease agreement? My reading indicates that they tried to verify facts, but could neither verify nor refute. What if the resident actually has a lease, paid the rent and the owner is the one not telling the truth after changing her phone number? Someone is purposefully deceiving others here.
Time for the legal system to do its job and law enforcers to await the orders of a judge.
We cannot permit and do not want police to dispense curbside justice when they are not sure of the facts from opposing parties.
We have courts for this purpose.
Hopefully, the courts will expedite the process to help this owner out and - assuming she was wronged, she will collect damages for the lost sale.

Is there an underlying criminal violation? Sometimes. Should there be an arrrest? Arguably yes. But to regain POSSESSION of the premises you still need an FED action.

Go ahead and post your address.

Some of us would be more than happy to move in your humble abode while you’re at work.

After we changed the locks, we could do all kinds of “remodeling”….knocking holes in the Sheetrock, pulling out copper wire and piping, knocking down walls to make rooms more spacious….but hey, nothing for you to worry about. You can probably get a civil hearing (which you’re not guaranteed to win) in 6-8 months. Maybe more.
