You have no idea what “indoctrination” is.

Nowadays its encouraged and of course, we're all paying for it.
Are you referring to the massive down trend in teen pregnancy?

I heard this growing up and there is def some truth in it but it does kind of put responsibility for the male’s behavior on the female. She should always act like a lady and he should always act like a gentleman regardless of how anyone around them act.

It's a shame that being ladies and gentlemen are frowned upon.

The Ten Commandments too.

It's unreal what young people are exposed to these days and the joy of innocence is going away or gone.

Damn shame.

Okay, they should replace it with this: "Act like a slut, get treated like a slut."

This one is from a classic movie (I think To Sir With Love):
"Every man likes a slut, but not for long."

Damn, that woman is deranged.

Acting like a lady is a horrible gender stereotype?

Four pages and this part hasn't entered the discussion?

quote:

The quote is commonly attributed to Sydney Biddle Barrows, a controversial businesswoman known as the “Mayflower Madam." Barrows was convicted of promoting prostitution in 1985 after being accused of running an escort service, according to University of Virginia archives.

That attribution is bullshite. I used to hear that all the time as a kid in the 60's and 70's.

If people weren't utterly retarded they could see it has more than a literal meaning.

Yes, of course if girls act proper at that age men will act well as a result. They could reverse the lesson as well.

People need shite to do. Go volunteer, help an old lady cross the road, apply for jobs, learn new things online. I don't know how these people have all of this time to point out such stupid and pointless things.

I think that's a valid criticism.

That's a liar, not a slut.

maybe people should respect people, regardless of if they act in a way we deem appropriate.

What difference does it make if we are supposed to respect people regardless of their actions. Slut, liar, murderer, child molester, etc. Just because we ( society) deems it inappropriate we should respect them “all the same”, huh?

What a fricking loon!

This sounds like a perfect leftist feminist of today. Business woman, believes in prostitution as a legal enterprise.

Isn't that everything a woman on the left should aspire to be?

I guess its missing the part where Ms. Barrows whored herself out, which would complete the leftist "empowerment".

Maybe part of respecting someone is expecting them to respect themselves. And focusing on immediate gratification over long term rewards is often seen as not respecting one's self.

quote:

If being a slut ain't hurting anyone, why shouldn't I respect them?

Seeing the single motherhood rate skyrocket and understanding what that means for the kids, it's quite clear this sort of behavior is very harmful and impacts all of society.

Agreed, gentlemen should act like gentlemen regardless of how the lady is behaving and I think a quote reflecting that would sound much better. That said I think the perspective of that quote is informed by the trend of guys pursuing girls, thus giving girls a bit of influence over how the guy behaves.

Its certainly old fashion, with today's hookup culture I wouldnt be surprised if the opposite is true. Maybe the quote should be flipped around...
