As bad as it’s been for Texas Republicans lately, some members of the party are warning that 2020 could be even worse.

In last year’s midterms, Democrats flipped a pair of longtime GOP districts, a Democrat came within striking distance of a Senate seat, and more than 50 elected Republican judges lost their jobs. Democrats also gained ground in state legislative races.

Republicans need to be very concerned about Texas,” said Texas Republican Rep. Brian Babin. “Texas is definitely in play. We need to take this very, very seriously

It's over when Texas turns blue although I still thinks it's a ways away.

It’s becoming closer to doing so. That article is very interesting. I’m sure most that will comment here will actually read it before doing so.

Democrats have an uncanny knack for pulling defeat from the jaws of victory. We’ll see.

Senate race was closer than people think - considering Cruz was the incumbent and Beto is a douchebag, losing by 2% is pretty damn tight.

Edit - 4% spread - my bad. Math is hard.

Karl Rove (yeah I know) was talking about this yesterday. Seems the republicans in the state have gotten complacent. He said they are now actively registering people to vote and getting much more active in getting people to turnout.

There’s no flipping. It’s illegal voting. frick Democrats for making a mockery of the Constitution and the values of which the United States were founded.

Why read the article when I live in Dallas and saw first hand some of the losses.

Abbott beat the dog shite out of a female Latina running for Governor and also won 40% of the Hispanic vote in doing so.

The new Dallas AG isn’t winning over any independents or moderates with his steal anything under $200 bill.

The Dems had all of the enthusiasm in 2018.

The GOP will have the same in 2020. I suspect many suburban families won’t go for open boarders, free healthcare for illegals, Green New Deal eliminating millions of jobs, Medicare for all driving up their taxes, bussing.

They want more money from the mothership. What better way than to act as if there's a crisis.

I’d be surprised if Republicans didn’t win back 4-10 seats that they lost in 2018. Texas is going Trump 7-12 points and it’s gonna carry the down ballot.

They are basing this whole premise on long time guys retiring? Seriously?

It's gonna happen in Tennessee next. All the California liberals leave the shitty business climate for greener pastures and free states, but bring their shitty politics that ruined California with them.

Sadly, you are right. Memphis proper has long been blue, and the sheer numbers of stupid liberals moving to Nashville will turn the whole state blue. They they will enact the very policies that they are running away from and ruin Tennessee. Sort of like locusts. Move to an area, eat and destroy everything in sight and move on to the next area.

It can be countered by working during the intervening years on permanently flipping PA, MI and either NH or MN.
