Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Wednesday sent a letter urging a Dallas judge to free a woman he sent to jail a day earlier after she refused to apologize for keeping her hair salon open in violation of Gov. Greg Abbott's order aimed at slowing the spread of the coronavirus.

Soon after, Abbott said he agreed with his attorney general on the matter.

Paxton, whose office said Shelly Luther was "unjustly jailed" in a release, told Dallas County State District Judge Eric Moyé that he had abused his discretion and emphasized that the woman was keeping her business open in order to feed her family.

he could also just end the bullshite orders.

if you want a stupid/unjust law repealed, enforce it and see how long it lasts. that's all this judge is doing.

the judge was a dick about it but the buck stops at Abbott. If you don't want people jailed for feeding their family, end the lockdown.

The Judge is a piece of shite for his act and demands of an apology like he or Abbott is some king.

Abbott sent a weak limp wristed letter like some soy boy.

Urging is not telling like you subject claims.

Abbott and his AG need some balls. Very disappointing.

Fake News, that's not the real reason for the Greg Abbotts's order.

IF SHE ISN'T CHARGED WITH A CRIME, HOW CAN A JUDGE PUT HER IN JAIL, AND PASS SENTENCE ON HER?

I think his balls are big enough, but they are hanging on a nail in China somewhere.

According to Judge Napolitano she didn't violate Abbott's order, she was charged with the judge's decree to shut the salon down. Either way, neither has the authority to stop her according to Napolitano.

If the judge issued an illegal decree and then executed an illegal judgement he needs to be investigated for disbarment.

Napolitano doesn’t know what he talking about.

The county judge’s order mirrored that if the governor. The governor shut down hair salons.

This woman has been jailed for contempt of court in relation to a temporary restraining order.

The Attorney General can’t tell a state district judge to do squat. Hence, “calls.”

Then why didn't the judge just simply jail her? Instead there was a big show where he told her to admit guilt and beg him for forgiveness or go to jail.

He agreed that the sentencing for contempt of court was “excessive.”

But the governor’s order provided for legislatively sanctioned criminal charges of up to six months in jail and/or up to a $1000 fine.

The Texas Attorney General is a crook. He was recently caught meddling in a Colorado coronavirus lockout on behalf of a donor.
