Welsh is the former chief of staff of the Air Force FYSA
Had a small lunch venue to hear him talk once when he was in that role.
Minority male captain stood up asking him what the AF was doing about the lack of minorities in leadership positions and how the AF would ensure more were promoted
I eagerly awaited his response about promotion being driven solely by merit
That response never came, he gave in talking about all the initiatives they were pursuing etc.
The Air Force died for me that day

San Jose. Lived there over 30 years. Lots of good memories. And so happy to be out of there. I'm so much more relaxed in Arkansas.

It starts small … a spark. The problem is, conservative students at Texas aren’t made to feel supported or safe in their views.
The ones who do take a stand need to be applauded. I have a friend whose daughter walked out of a class at UT the day after CK was murdered bc it turned into a horrific bashing of him and his views, and the professor joined in. Students were literally laughing and jeering at her as she left.
As alums, speak out. Be vocal and bold in support of your current students.

Believe me I am. I've seen enough from other parents of students there that we will all not be renewing our season tickets to all sports. I doubt they care, but at least I can say I'm not supporting that bullshite.
it's always been a progressive university, but when I attended in the 90s the conservative groups were fairly large (but the minority) but we could have debates without the other side wanting us dead.
pains me to say it but if I had another kid close to graduation I would not send him/her there. I'd find a private christian based university. I'm sick of the bullshite.
Proud of the Aggie alumni for making a stand. I'll never say another bad thing about that university. I'm behind you.
