So I stopped at Wawa to get gas and I see 8 Tesla charging stations and there are six vehicles charging and people just sitting in their cars.

Do you think that will become the new normal where are you just sit in your car for a couple of hours while your batteries charge that seems stupid to me

It baffles me that this is "the future". I imagine it's hard as hell to plan a long road trip in those

Let alone when the reliability of the chargers means several are out of order at any given time. Look at air machines in gas stations now.

Very dramatic. It takes like 20 mins for 80% charge.
Send a couple emails, make a phone call, text a friend, watch a Facebook video. It’s not a deal and may actually be a decent rest break for long trips.

They have a woke mobile but are too cheap to buy a home charging station ?

Electric cars will be a niche product, until the they find another paradigm. As it stands, ICE vehicles are just more practical, and more convenient.

I do all that while I'm driving. Guess I could rub one out in 20 mins

Only if you think it’s hard as hell to use Google maps to enter your destination, the Tesla will guide you to charging stations along the way.

EV's are now practical for local delivery, local pickup trucks, and a second car run-about (except for the price).

I sure wouldn't want to depend on one for a 1200 mile trip.

You’d probably end up with these massive parking lots, where every spot has a charger.

The problem is that it is inferior in this very specific way to conventional vehicles. People will ask, why should I put up with that? When I can drive a conventional vehicle?

Tesla has models coming out with 500+ miles to a charge. With 80% charge in 20 minutes. In this decade you will be spending more time at the pump than a charging station

My neighbor has a Tesla. He was telling me he programmed his 3 hr trip in the car and it plotted out the charging stations along the route for him, and told him how long he’d have to charge to reach his destination and how much charge he’d have left once he arrived.

It was 20 min for that 3 hr trip.

Tesla puts their chargers near restaurants and such so you can eat while charging.

Each seat can make its own fart noise, and there are several types of farts to choose from.

It's not as baffling when you realize that the government can and probably will rig the game against IC transportation. They can make it painful enough that a 30 minute stop to charge will be an acceptable trade-off.

I'm considering a Tesla but for a road trip I'd want a 400 mile range. With the current performance envelope I would only have one if we also have a gas burner for the flexibility.

Americans will balk at sitting around for twenty minutes.

The batteries do worse in really hot or really cold temps as well.

It takes 40 minutes using a Supercharger to get to 80% and 75 minutes to get to 100%
