Son of Sam type laws wouldn't apply here. It's not a profit from her crime. It would be reparations for the alleged constitutional rights violations.
Would the Clean Hands Doctrine be in play here, too?

Execute her in the same manner she murdered Slemmer.
From some AI program:
From some AI program:
quote:
On January 12, 1995, Christa Pike and her boyfriend Tadaryl Shipp lured their 19-year-old Job Corps classmate Colleen Slemmer into the woods near the University of Tennessee campus in Knoxville, Tennessee. Pike and Shipp brutally attacked Slemmer for approximately 30 minutes, during which Shipp carved a pentagram into her chest while Pike used a box cutter to slash her stomach and throat, ignoring the victim's pleas for mercy.
The attack concluded with Pike repeatedly bludgeoning Slemmer’s skull with a large chunk of asphalt, causing fatal brain injury. Following the murder, Pike dug into the wound, removed a fragment of the skull, and kept it as a "souvenir," later showing it to other students.

More in the vein of real life, it’s also reminiscent of when Derek Todd Lee received life-saving open-heart surgery while on death row at Angola. A lot of people, myself included, asked WTF? at the time.
At least he still died, and I hope the afterlife is giving him what he deserves.

She's very likely brain dead and Tennessee is about to get sued for millions.
Sued on what grounds? Wasn't brain dead the whole point of the exercise....

I think a post action investigation will reveal that she deliberately dehydrated herself, causing her veins to blowout during the execution.
If this is true, and i've never heard of that in my whole medical career, then start an IV and hydrate her with a bag of fluid or two and then execute her stupid arse. Just because she decides not to drink for a while. Doesn't mean you can't very quickly rehydrate her.

Why is it so bad that she suffered? What about her victims. She didn’t seem to care
Did she suffer? From what I have heard.. She went to sleep, started snoring, never died and is still asleep. So where's the suffering? I don't see it.

Death obviously, not permanently physically and mentally incapacitated but alive.

already a legal nightmare. She already suffered cruel and unusual punishment. They violated her constitutional rights. It's a clusterfrick and gonna cost the taxpayers millions.
Ironically, as states have tried to find more and more “human” ways to kill someone (in order to appease those people who don’t have the stomach for capital punishment) the more likely they now are to actually cause someone needless suffering.

Uuummmm...
Take her off the respirator....no longer alive....no longer a problem.
Better yet, call an anesthesiologist into the ICU room and finish off with the prison should have done.
QUICK AND EASY.
I BET THERE'S AN IV RUNNING NOW.

Did she have a pentagram carved in her forehead or something like that?

Entirely against policy.
These executions are planned down to the second to avoid any holes for litigation.
This was a massive failure and is going to result in asignificant monetary award to the estate. Especially going back at it a second time in the other arm, allegedly.

I'm not agreeing with it, but it's what's going to happen based on the facts publicly available.

Some frickery took place and I'd start with the pharmacy and the supplier.
I will almost bet some person with colored/dyed hair, nose and lip rings will be involved.

The only male present as an all woman team was requested when a last meal wasn't...Just fudged up an execution 4 to 5 mos ago. They couldn't find a vein.
Reporters are saying they closed the curtains a lot and they aren't suppose to. Some are saying the medication was degraded. It is ludicrous incompetence or they are complicit.
Is she still on life support?

She had a constitutional right to what kind of death. Have you seen people die of cancer, cirrhosis, sudden impact trauma, decapitation, firearms, stabbings, etc. I have and they're gruesome. Those people had not "rights", They were victims of crimes or life's ultimate endings. It's ridiculous that we're discussing this though your are right about one thing, government will.pay taxpayers dollars for this B.S.

No harm no foul.
Hopefully the convicted is braindead or permanently crippled.
Good enough.

I just read the updated article I posted and you nailed it. She warned, lawyers warned she has bad veins, has a blood condition...but like you said they found a central line in the hospital, as she is on life support.
