Stop playing into the nonsense the Dems want you to care about. The man took a vacation. It's not a big deal.

It is a big deal....you have no idea what conditions have been like on the ground. There are people without power and drinking water for days and he is chilling in Cancun. I am big Cruz fan but its a bad tone deaf look.....and its stupid politically when his Democrat opponent beats him over the head for this dumb move.

We have become a country of pussies.

A real man doesn't need another man to not go on vacation.

So the frick what?
Is he supposed to turn off his power and pour out any drinking water he has, too?

Tell me you’re a pussy without telling me you’re a pussy.

If he wasn't in Cancun would they have power and water?

You're being emotional, not rational.

Leaders lead from the front not sitting on the beach in Cancun

Is Cruz a certified lineman? No? Is he the Governor? No? There's really not much he can do outside of being "visible"....which is just a nice way of saying he's just there for political points.

If that is what's important to you then we just have differing viewpoints. The last thing needed during a crisis is someone coming in and stepping on the shoes of the person in charge(in this case the Governor). This is exactly how you get confusion in chain of command, misallocation of resources, etc.

If the Governor needs more help politically then that's fine....but you have Representatives that are more regionally focused as well as State Senators who would be even more responsible.

Cannot understand why this is an issue for folks.

This “holding our elected officials accountable” thing is a positive for all of us as long as we keep it in perspective.

Dude took his family on vacation. He didn’t shove COVID-19 patients into nursing homes or call for riots and looting in order to cause chaos and push a narrative.

Let’s hold them all accountable for things that are legitimate

I guess Ted cares... now he’s on a flight back home LOL

This is why Cruz will never succeed Trump. He gets a little bad press and immediately does a 180 instead of staying the course and enjoying his vacation.

For fricks sake the Governor is the leader during this crisis not the Senator.

I've said it before in this thread but it bears repeating....this is a stupid fricking argument.

We live in a political environment where people will either worship or crucify politicians no matter what they do and with no gray area.

Cruz could be handing out blankets and people would bitch about them being too scratchy.

Somebody that has the resources to avoid this I don’t judge. We lost power, checked on our lower income neighbors and helped where we could, then went to some friends who had power and room. Did what was best for my family.

Ted didn’t say “everybody hunker down and stay home.” He just did what’s best and most comfortable for his family. Optics aren’t great but a far cry from “hypocrisy.”

Cruz won't succeed Trump because he's not electable on a national stage. It sucks, but we're petty when it comes to the president and looks/voice matter.

Sorry you were triggered. I hope you're managing ok.

Also people were pissed that Democrat Jackson Lee was involved in committees instead of helping her district. It works both ways.

If Cruz was a Democrat this board would be blowing him up.

The optics are just bad either way you slice it and the national liberal media is already beating him over the head with it. If you can't see why the Senator representing a state going through a huge national disaster taking a vacation looks bad, I can't help you.

Liberals are telling people to stay home/save lives. A liberal doing this would be a hypocrite. Ted Cruz isn't telling people to do that, so him doing this isn't hypocritical at all. It's a pretty simple concept.
