You're a liberal if your link contains IRS tax code.

Show me one place, one argument, that the US tax system ins't based on voluntary compliance, and consequently voluntary. Just becuase non compliance is criminal doesn't mean it isn't voluntary.

Did you go to the Iosh school of law or something.

There is probably no no bigger proponent of putting Lois Lerner in prison, and no bigger proponent of regressive taxation on here than me. Doesn't mean false logic is somehow true.

It's such an amateur troll move, too. Us more accomplished trolls have moved beyond such petty maneuvers.

This is all such a dumb conversation, I can't believe I'm still reading this thread. Refraining from murdering people is also voluntary to the extent you aren't locked in solitary confinement from birth to death. Lawdy.

I think you're trolling but the government has the right to tax its citizens, thus it's not theft. It doesn't matter that you agreed with it or not.

If it requires jail time or fines for not paying its not voluntary. You're using force to get me to pay. That's not voluntary. The IRS has been deemed constitutional and so your argument is void.

Oh it's certainly theft. The question is how much theft we as a people decide is acceptable.

With conditions.

We aren't slaves to a throne. Which could be argued that some are at this point.

Yeah, John Locke and all those other people are clearly not the brilliant legal scholar you are. Crimes committed under duress are voluntary, but the voluntary filing and payment of federal income taxes under duress are not voluntary.

No friggin wonder everyone on here that calls themselves a conservative can't even begin to fairly and reasonably discuss tax reform.

Good luck to everyone on here that call themselves a "conservative," after the House plan passes and they find out they're getting a tax increase instead. If they even notice it as most have their taxes withheld and paid for them anyway. Because the majority couldn't save enough to write one check a year. But post incessantly about being libertarian and personal responsibility.

It's so voluntary we should do away with withholding, and make everyone write ne check a year. That would learn a couple people on here a lesson in cold, hard reality.

The reason conservatives and Republicans have been so ineffectual is becuase they waste large amounts of time arguing shite like taxes are theft.

Locke is a cocksucker of the highest order, frick him.

quote:

Lysander Spooner, in “No Treason” written from 1867-1870, writes of the notion of voluntary taxation, “this theory of our government is wholly different from the practical fact. The fact is that the government, like a highwayman, says to a man: ‘Your money, or your life.’ And many, if not most, taxes are paid under the compulsion of that threat.”

You can't have public infrastructure and security without some form of taxation. No public infrastructure and security = no civilization.

You're making my argument for me. Under duress is still voluntary. But have at it if it makes you happy. I'd rather concentrate on was to avoid my voluntary tax burden.

Out of curiousity, do you know Spooner's full history?
