Why didn’t they work for solar panels which have been heavily tariffed since 2018?

Just a statement of fact. Trump's tariff on Mexico and Canada WILL WORK.

They will acquiesce to our demands, and it will happen very soon (my money is by next Friday). You can bitch about Trump all you want, but this will go exactly the way Columbia did.

We can all watch this unfold in real time and see the exact same replies and reactions when the Columbian tariffs were announced.

You all know this. Even LSURussian knows this.

Muh Tarrifs are going to raise prices -

They didn’t when he was president last time - and Biden kept them.

People think Trump is an idiot
He’s not and in 6 months prices across the board will be lower.

huh? It was your claim. You explain why it hasn’t worked as you claim. Are you unaware that we’ve had solar panel tariffs for years. And Biden raised it last year?

I didn't bring up solar panels. I don't know what you are referring to. I assumed you have some data or something.

I have a general assumption that we have tariffs on a wide array of things, no i don't track solar panels, but im willing to learn.

Explain what you mean by "they didnt' work"? What didn't work? Who is supplying the solar panels? By "work" do you mean cost? By cost do you mean in relation to the cost of domestically produced solar panels?

Explain what you are talking about and i'll gladly reply.

The only specific product i can think of that prices may go up, is avocados.

I am not going to drill into specific products. But avocado prices do matter here in Texas!

But by your logic, you are expecting essentially no real impact of the tariffs on US prices.

And I’m thinking that Costco, Walmart, etc. would become more expensive (on average, across the board).

You said with complete certainty that tariffs will increase domestic production and increase imports from other countries… test thst has not happened with solar panels. We still buy them almost exclusively from China. If tariffs work… why haven’t they worked?

The tariffs that have been in place since 2018.

Before you claim tariffs will work, you should probably educate yourself about tariffs that haven’t worked. You might also want to check out steel, aluminum iand lumber.

Yeah let’s see how it plays out.

If this is some huge victory in a week, then everyone will be happy. I’m not against every idea just for the sake of it.

I’m skeptical, and am not sure where the confidence is coming from that XI is just going to capitulate, but we’ll see.

This should reinforce high home prices and insurance costs in the US as the price of lumber is going to jump significantly.
