Then fine.. don't call me a conservative.. I don't give a frick. Trump got bent over and fricked up the arse during his first term and during the 2020 election that was stolen.

Ok, so hold the people responsible with the justice system. But if you go trying to destroy the constitution, you're gonna find out what the 2nd amendment is all about.

Yes there is. I think it’s dumb but it’s an argument. See above post. You just can’t be “elected” again.

Okay... let's go on the assumption that it was stolen.

What's the remedy? Give him the election, right? Give him 4 years. Then in 24, he's out. Instead of that, he is President again in 24... for 4 more years... getting his full 8 years. You don't get "8 years unless 4 years were stolen from you then you get 12 year." It just doesn't work like that.

The argument is that the 22nd Amendment ^ speaks to being elected president. So essentially, Trump would run as someone’s VP and then that person would step down after the election. Trump would then be president without being elected to the office of president again. Or something like that

That's just stupid. He can sit behind the curtain like Obama and Susan Rice.

Only if you’re a retard.

VPOTUS has the same eligibility requirements as POTUS

Exactly. You can't run for VP, or rather serve as VP, if you can't serve as POTUS.

Correct. Which is why this is the dumbest “theory” imaginable.

Then do the same theory with speaker of the house, which technically does not have to be a member of congress, and have the pres and VP resign. I’m not disagreeing with it being dumb, but it’s not completely impossible.

No, it’s not “completely impossible”. But it’s so stupid as to not warrant discussion.

If Trump can find a way to do it legally. I would support him, but I don't think it is going to happen.

Just curious as to peoples thoughts now.
Bannon is trolling. BUT, if there were a workaround, it would have to be along the lines of parsing the language of the 22nd Amendment:
quote:

No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. ...
There's a two-election limit, and an implied ten year limit (4+4+2). So, DJT could handoff to JD Vance just before the start of year 3 (at 1 year, 364 days) and get around the ten year limit. There would still be a limit on being elected a third time, so the argument would have to be that the Amendment actually relates to consecutive years/terms and not to a person's entire career. Again, my belief is that Bannon is just trolling.

Irregardless, as Frank Maraist used to say, and just for funsies, I would think the plan would be to swap the ticket and have Vance run for POTUS and Trump for Veep. Couple that with either an implied or express promise to have Vance step aside and allow DJT to take back over, and that would get a third DJT administration.

Please find me the place in the constitution that says a president is entitled to extra years in office for any reason other than being elected again.

The Constitution is a document of negative liberties. It’s say what can’t happen more than what can happen. Lots of things are allowed that are not spelled out in the Constitution.

To do it legally would require an amendment to the constitution. It is possible to do, however it requires 2/3s vote and ratification.

I just don't see it happening. And if they tried to do it any other way, it's basically going to start a civil war.

Not when followed properly. But yes, they have certainly done everything they can to turn it into a document of limited rights. It's out job as citizens to get the government back to that.

I mean look at alcohol. There was a time when they added an amendment just to make it illegal, then another one to make it legal again. Now they just classify shite as illegal and do what they want. Doesn't make it constitutional though.

It's the 9th and 10th amendments that need to be restored. They are supposed to be the lock that keeps it a document of limited government.

My nephew works in the administration and the plan is for Trump to run again. Maybe with Rubio as the running mate -
Vance is on the outs with Suzy.
