This just proves the point I've been trying to make that this was not solely an Intelligence failure. Plenty of people within and outside the chain of command warned this was a distinct possibility. They were ignored by this administration.

It reminds of people who ask me to help them move and say everything is packed up and it ends up taking three days and they leave furniture behind

Well except without the murder

Honestly this is to the point where it feels like when Stalin went on a drunken mental breakdown for 2 days when Germany invaded without saying anything. That is how bad this is looking.

I feel like the potential for Afghanistan to be in the hands of the Taliban by 9/11 was pretty widely discussed in mainstream media, even

Even Biden's bad soundbites aside, how did they not anticipate and plan for an accelerated timeline?

ABC

Afghanistan's collapse: Did US intelligence get it wrong?

quote:

Just days ago, a U.S. military analysis reported by ABC News predicted that Kabul could fall within 90 days -- not by the weekend.

quote:

But numerous U.S. officials tell ABC News that the opposite was true, insisting that key intelligence assessments had consistently informed policymakers that the Taliban could overwhelm the country and take the capital within weeks -- essentially repeating the 1975 fall of Saigon, when helicopters hastily evacuated diplomats from the U.S. embassy's rooftop as the North Vietnamese Army stormed into the South Vietnam capital.

It gets worse and worse, optically, for Biden.

You’ve got to be shitting me. For all intents and purposes we don’t have an executive branch right now.

We haven't had one since January 20th.

This isn’t over. Thing you need to realize is that members of the Taliban will strap dynamite vests to themselves to bomb girl’s schools. All they want is to kill and subjugate as many people as possible to meet their beloved Allah as a friend. These people can’t be bribed with power and peace. They want the destruction of everyone who disagrees with them, even if it means they themselves are killed.

You know I saw these original reports and now you are seeing some Media outlets saying it was an intelligence failure as they thought it'd take 90 days, a few weeks ago, and a week later they said 30 days.

Here's what I think will happen:

The Taliban will stick more or less to their pledge of moderation in the early days, perhaps even being somewhat gracious towards Western interests initially (allowing them to make us eat shite on the world stage). The media will back off, heat will die down off Biden, and then the theocratic terror will really begin in earnest about the time Americans are checking out.

Which is the worst case for the Afghans, and the worst case for Americans who want to see their leaders held accountable so we can stop getting into quagmires and getting out of them so horrifically.

Why are you taking a random intelligence official at their word? There are some visibly memorable times they haven't been very accurate. And several I can think of with regard to Afghanistan in particular. Everyone might be in CYA mode and just start pointing the finger because this is clearly a clusterfrick.

It’s like you think people aren’t capable of reading or something. Or maybe you also have dementia like your fearless leader that you voted for.

Keep showing people how stupid you are, and why shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

Another tweet about a C-17 being loaded with up to 800 people.

USAF C-17A RCH871 Left Kabul about 3 hours ago.

LINK

If that’s even close to true (I doubt it), it’s pretty crazy and you will be reading stories about that.
