Taliban are too smart to attack. Let us leave and they get the country back. They attack and it could get messy.

Were tactical errors made, sure, but so far the military appears to be addressing them. Until these 5k start getting shot and killed this is just the final step in withdrawal.
I honestly think the Taliban is going to let us leave. They are in a win win with us gone. Full control of the country, a 300k man US trained and equipped army, a new financial/trade partner in China. They have no incentive to start harming our people.
I could be wrong, let's see.

This....they can say they effectively controlled their forces to allow the foreigners to safely depart.

I was downvoted for saying this on the Poli Board, but from everything I've read, Taliban leaders are upholding their word (for now) and are allowing our citizens and allies to evacuate without aggression. If I'm wrong, please let me know.
Taliban forces just won the battle of their life. Would think the last they would want to do right now is attack US men and women on ground in Kabul. Retaliation would be swift and furious I would hope.
