Surely 6k US troops are enough to defend an airport long enough to get out the 5,000 something expats. Maybe i’m foolish, but surely the rag tag band of Taliban wouldn’t be dumb enough to take on 6k hunkered down US troops.
A couple of mortar rounds to the runway and taxiways would really make life difficult.

They have the airport surrounded with artillery. They have to take them on. They can set back and pound them with artillery. And it won’t take many hits before the single runway at the airport is out of Comission.
Yep. They can shut it down anytime they want.
I don't believe they will though.

Who should have the right to vote, under our constitutional republic?
Tax paying, adults 21 and over. You’ve got to have some skin in the game to play.
(And the minimum age to serve in the military needs to be raised back to 21 as well)

No, I do not. I've voted Libertarian every year since 2000 with the exception of 2020, in which I voted for Trump. I did not vote for him in 2016, but he made the case to vote for him in 2020 based on his actions as President.
Actions, not feelings.

So you think The President in charge of requesting and getting the current Taliban leader released from prison should take zero responsibility if a terrorist that afghan leader plans a successful terrorist attack?
So you think the administration that's letting them come across our southern border isn't at fault in the end? After all, if it happens they wouldn't be here if not for that. I don't think it would be Trump's fault that a terrorist came into our country illegally because Biden doesn't want to secure the border and has the floodgates open. If you want to assign him a little bit of blame for the situation in Afghanistan go ahead but you couldn't rationally blame him for terrorists entering our country because the following admin refuses to address illegal immigration. It's insane you would even imply that.

Rep Gregory Meeks (D-NY) just said he was in a meeting with Biden a few weeks ago and one of the reason Biden decided to pull out is because Afghani's won't stand up and fight.
We are pulling out because we aren't Afghan's military.
Spin Cycle!
This MF'er just said it reminded him of January 6th except they (dems) fought back.
This guy is the Foreign Affairs Chairman. What. The. Hell

That's still based on your feelings, whether you want to admit it or not.

Frankly, I think the taliban just wants to keep applying pressure to force us out and leave usable materials behind and make us look weak and foolish.

They can no longer use the "It happened so much faster than we thought" line, then. They expected this, which makes it all the worse.
