I'm a lot more concerned now about the situation on the ground after seeing credible reports from international sources that several hundred ISIS fighters have descended upon the airport. There are now credible reports that military planes will be targeted by RPG fire.
Not surprising. I've been banging the drum of foreign intervention/cooperation within the Taliban for two weeks now.

Are you really trying to make the argument that marines and US civilians were going to be killed no matter what?

You just don’t get it. Or you are being intentionally obtuse. You are either extremely low IQ or disgusting

Multiple people have been killed after two powerful suicide bombs and a gunman struck one of the main entrances to Kabul’s international airport.
A gunman also fired on one of the main entrances to Kabul’s international airport.
At least 13 civilians and multiple US Marines, with reports suggesting at least four have been killed.
Looks like a gunman was involved as well.

Perhaps trade them to the Taliban for the rest of the Americans and our Afghan allies?
Cause he’s an old has-been that no team will touch due to his exorbitant salary and deteriorating skills, it would be more humane if the team would just DFA his arse. But there’s a certain segment of the fan base that would lose it’s shite cause of what he did in the past. Joe Biden is the Matt Carpenter of American politics and I fricking hate both of them, they’ve done more harm than good due to their own hubris. If that cocksucking traitor has the gall to say…”and may God bless America” at the end of his address today he should be skulled on the spot.
May God hold those Marine baws friends & families in the palm of HIS hand and embrace this nation’s sorrow and may he smite down the wicked for their wicked ways.

I believe 1/8 and 2/1 are currently there. My insides are numb thinking about it.

Once again, you're battling windmills here

Biden sucks.
Yet you completely gloss over the decisions he made (or in most cases didn't make) that directed resulted in what we are seeing today and just say 'oh, this was always going to happen this way because reasons and shite.'

This administration's desperation to have it's ideology of weakness and appeasement win the day has now resulted in completely avoidable deaths of our servicemen
frick Joe Biden
Hate to say it but this is so true. People don't want to admit it but the United States status as the primary world power comes from force projection, military might, and being the central currency. Every dollar we print and every disastrous foreign policy decision weakens our power as a country which harms it's citizens. We have a large portion of the united states citizen base that is very soft and entitled and thinks we can hold hands with other countries and share resources but that is not how the world is. You either dominate or choose to be dominated.

The PM of the UK has made a statement on the deaths of US servicemen before the President.

The UK PM is actually awake and at work.

Good Twitter thread here in regards to what MrLSU stated earlier:

1. Concerning signals coming from #IS in #Afghanistan.
After a months-long period of resurgence, its activities have fallen off a cliff—and this is not in response to any known counter-#ISKP operation. LINK
quote:
2. In June 2021, #ISKP reported 19 times as many ops as it did in June 2020.
This month, it's reported just 11 attacks and been totally inactive for 11 days—that’s three times less activity compared with last month and the longest period of inactivity since October last year. LINK
quote:
3. #ISKP’s recovery in #Afghanistan began in June last year. This follows its being declared ‘defeated’ at the hands of the #ANDSF at the end of 2019 (with help from the #Taliban).
Since then, its ascendancy has been fairly steady, as noted here:
LINK
quote:
4. That is, until mid-August this year, when #ISKP suddenly went silent.
Its last attack was reported on 14 August—the day before #Kabul fell to the #Taliban. LINK
quote:
5. This dynamic could be driven by a range of factors.
It could be that the #Taliban simply has a better handle on #ISKP than the #ANDSF and #US did.
It seems more likely, however, that #ISKP is deliberately laying low. LINK
quote:
6. #IS affiliates tend to lay low when they are either:
i) In 'survival mode' (e.g., in #Syria now, see thread below); or
ii) Planning something (e.g., in the run up to attrition campaigns, see graph).
LINK LINK
quote:
7. Given that just weeks ago #ISKP was an order of magnitude more active than it was the same time last year, it seems unlikely that its silence now can be explained by its having suddenly entered into ‘survival mode.’ LINK
quote:
8. On that basis, it is critical that all parties in #Afghanistan monitor the situation closely. There are lots of ‘ideal’ targets for #ISKP at risk right now.
We’re monitoring this closely. If you’d like to know more, visit LINK or email info@extrac.io.

I know the simple answer is, "it's the fricking Taliban" but I don't get why they would have not killed anyone and not that they were model citizens but we're about to remove all troops and they hadn't done anything to frick that up.
Seems wild that they would do this, but again, "it's the fricking Taliban" and I guess it could also be a few dudes going rogue and not the plan of the leadership folks.
Either way, we need to rip them to shreds at this point. There's no turning back, I imagine all Americans still stranded are completely fricked and on their own.

Looks like State Dept Briefing has been cancelled.
Also, looks like Biden is going to continue to have meetings with the Isreali PM today. He isn't going to postpone them until tomorrow, etc.
