I really do believe they’ve been sandbagging. Not exactly sure why. Maybe to not alert the Taliban or less disciplined fighters outside of Kabul? Maybe it was part of the agreement to self-humiliate? Maybe to under promise and over deliver? It’s hard to believe something like this could be fricked up so bad, even with Biden

I'd think it'd be weird if that's the case but look at these photos. They aren't suppressors? just extended barrels? There were a lot of photos early on showing these type of rifles.
I don't see them on the 10th Mountain or 82nd Airborne.

Wolf Blitzer just interviewed John Kasich, who is saying exactly what everyone here has been saying. This man is furious at Biden for this botched withdrawal “plan.” Kasich supported Biden in his presidential race.
I think a lot of people are going to be surprised by how many people share these views—not just Republicans but Independents and even some Democrats (ideologically aligned with the Blue Dogs of old). I also think CNN may move more toward the center after this. Then again, perhaps that is just wishful thinking.

I think Kengel is right. They are just marines. The photos that have been shown around are A LOT of soldiers with them.

You are correct, those are Marines. And I was apparently mistaken, because those are definitely suppressors of some sort. May be because they're embassy marines?
As far as I know US Army units outside of Special Forces aren't being issued suppressors.
