It's the first report out. I can tell you my son and his unit have been in country since Thursday morning last week Afghanistan time and unless it would be directly violating a direct order they have been making these types of runs. They are not sit and wait types.
I have had one text from him that said he was OK. He has been busy I know otherwise I would have heard more from him.

If that does prove to be true, then it only points to the political incompetence of this Administration even more so. You don't sit on the sidelines and take the type political flack they've taken with that info under your hat. Particularly, when multiple other nations have said they are doing just that, as you repeatedly state publicly that it is "impossible".

For those living in other cities and provinces outside Kabul, CIA case officers, special operation forces and agents from the Defense Intelligence Agency on the ground are gathering some U.S. citizens and Afghan nationals who worked for the U.S. at pre-determined pick-up sites.
The officials would not detail where these airlift sites were for security reasons. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss ongoing operations.

Oh, I don't doubt that at all.
What I am saying is that it wouldn't surprise me if the flights we've seen reported outside of the airport are the ones that have been gathering people from other parts of the country.
I'm not saying that is the case, just that it is a possibility.
ETA:
All reports and communications we've seen have involved the people in Kabul. We haven't really heard much in relation to people elsewhere. All of the Embassy correspondence and briefings have stated they can't or won't go into Kabul to get people. They've never said they wouldn't go to other parts of the country.

CNN’s Clarissa Ward is now on a flight out of Afghanistan
She did incredible on the ground coverage, and good for her, especially as a woman in that space. Give her Fredo’s job when she lands since she earned it.
