Hint - Afghan soldiers will flip to Taliban as they have done throughout history. Loyalty to religion and self. I’m sure a total and complete surprise to our “intelligence” community. So they actually have folks TRAINED on the equipment. Joke.

It doesn't appear so. Until two days ago it was still believed that most Embassy workers would drive themselves to the airport for evac. It wasn't until yesterday that more troops arrived. It has been said, as recently as yesterday, that the full number of troops would not be in country until "the end of the week". Hell 2,000 of them were originally sent to Kuwait to "stage", but were redirected to Kabul.

They would be able to leave the city. It’s unlikely the Taliban have a tight cordon, checkpoints can be bypassed, and they can always bribe guards if necessary.
Staying in place would be the worst option. In a week or two, the Taliban will start locking down the city, and start punishing everyone who collaborated with the US.

I should have posted some of the bank pics from yesterday. Afghan people lined up before daylight. Several banks ran out of money. The exchange rate from $ to whatever they use skyrocketed and was climbing by the minute, it seemed.

Yep, as soon as the flag came down, the Embassy was no longer considered operational or to be Sovereign US soil. After that, they have no real diplomatic responsibility to anyone other than US citizens directly in harm.
