The withdrawal was done exceedingly poorly, and it begs the question as to what Biden's team thought would happen, but given the bad-faith pretense the Taliban negotiated under, I'm confused as to why there was a peace agreement with them at all. The conditions of the agreement weren't met during the negotiation phase, were violated immediately, and the promised reprisal didn't come. It's the same shite with US foreign policy though.

I find this development interesting: Taliban leaders say they will enter Kabul peacefully and await a peaceful exchange of power. Yet, this was said as they were shelling the damn airport.

I also saw a video of "thousands of Kabul residents" celebrating the Taliban takeover at the square or market. If the video is real, that tells you alot.

stupid question, but other than headlines i know nothing about the situation. but it seems like over the course of the last few weeks we’ve seen things escalating and the Taliban taking more and more territory. While this was going on: did we make any attempt to expedite moving American and allies?
