Whelp, it is official, Kabul is surrounded with all roads out controlled by the Taliban. If people are left at the Embassy, and they most certainly are, they will come out via helicopter on the roof.

US Newscasts telling such a different story. The first time I've ever looked at a story on the local (Chicago) news as state media.

I really haven't seen any numbers reported. The last I saw was a quote from Fox (I think) that said those at the Embassy were "working to destroy sensitive and classified documents and materials and they are still carrying out their normal diplomatic duties".
ETA: They have yet to lower the American Flag, so the Embassy is still considered open and operational.
