What would cause a president to go on a 14-day vacay in the middle of a crisis while other members of his staff go AWOL as well? Why would he be all alone in the pic released yesterday? COVID perhaps?

Back in probably 2002 I was sitting in an airport waiting for my flight. Sitting near me was a group of U.S. army soldiers. I could hear their conversation. They were evidently back from a stent in Afghanistan. I remember them saying that the U.S. effort was useless because, when it comes down to it, most Afghans are pro Taliban, that the message that the U.S. government was putting out that the Afghanistan people saw them as their saviors was total b.s., that the Afghanistan police/military was a joke, and finally that the minute the U.S. leaves Afghanistan it will go back to Taliban rule. Looks like they were right.

I can’t get rid of this picture in my head of innocent non-Afghans being executed right there on the tarmac at the airport…. and the ensuing uproar.
