The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
Ain't that a wonderful thought. The Damascus metro area has like 7 million residents. If it is turned to rubble those people will be sent to Europe, Canada, and the USA as refugees. History is repeating itself.

I don't know the end game here.
It is just another round of the same game that has been playing out in the region for thousands of years. Anatolia (Turkey) is making a move to gain power over its rivals in Persia (Iran) and the Black Sea (Russia) and control the overland and underground (pipeline) trade routes between Europe and Asia.
Step 1: Turkey and maybe the USA and EU (I have no idea if we are involved or not) get the various rebels groups to unite and drive Assad out of Syria.
Step 2: Without Assad, Russia loses its ability to stop the Gulf states from building pipeline(s) between the Middle East and Europe.
Step 3: Turkey goes for Russia's jugular and convinces Azeribaijan and Turkmenistan to ignore Russia's objections and build the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline which would allow Europe to purchase natural gas from central Asia and bypass Russia all together.
Step 4: Turkey uses this Southern Gas Corridor to become Europe's new energy hub.
Step 5: Turkey uses the revenue generated by natural gas transit fees to build up its military and expand its influence with the goal of becoming the major power in eastern Europe, western Asia, Central Asia, and possibly North Africa as well.

But what deals will be made between the Bear and the Turk over the navel base?
Next move is Turkey leaves NATO?
Hell no. Turkey ain't giving up NATO's nuclear umbrella.

Imagine thinking Gas pipelines cannot be easily destroyed by IRBMs
We are in new territory after we blew up the Nordstream pipeline.

That is where the USA comes into play. Our THAAD system can shoot down IRBMs.
ETA: That is also why Turkey will never voluntarily leave NATO. The pipelines will converge in Turkey so if Russia attacks them then it will be attacking a NATO nation. Turkey will invoke Article 5 and WW3 is on like Donkey Kong.

Its a smart move. Germany industry is collapsing and the need for natural gas will be far less. Not to mention Russia has signed 30 year energy deal with China. Russia is focusing on helping their no limits partner in China. It's a smart move. Europe is on its death bed

1. It is their only move.
2. It is not enough which is why it had to start selling its gold reserves to pay its bills.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Why are you mentioning Ukraine when talking Russia attacking pipelines in Turkey and/or Syria? Do you think the USA would be stupid enough to deploy THAADs to Ukraine to protect stuff in Syria and Turkey?

Yea, definitely not a Russian troll.
More "collapse of the West", right?

The tweet I posted was the one below that. Since it was in response it also post the original Tweet.
"THAAD does not even have a theoretical chance of opposing the hypersonic missile "Oreshnik", which has an average speed of Mach 10, but an attack and direct contact of Mach 15-17."

Looks like Biden might achieve Obama's dream of removing Assad from power before he leaves office if the Syrian military keeps collapsing at the rate that it has been collapsing.
They’ve succeeded all right… in putting ISIS in power.

This is not a good thing and I am not celebrating it.
Israel is. They’re incredibly short-sighted on this. They’re gleeful about helping to push out the Assad family, but they're going to help replace them with a group that makes even old Hafez look like a friendly in comparison.

However, it will become the USA's problem when Quatar and Saudi Arabia revitalize natuaral gas from the Persian Gulf to Turkey through Syria and need someone to protect it.
The Middle East is such a sticky wicket. Can Saudi and Qatar cooperate, or are they enemies?

Man, you pro-Israel people are ruthless. Y’all don’t care about anyone else, as long as the Jews get what they want.
