Pretty sure our Navy will navigate the strait as they wish. Insurance companies are telling tankers and cargo ships they aren't covered if they do.
Yea some of the navy can. They aren’t sending aircraft carriers in there. But no one else can unless Iran gives them safe passage. Then what about our allies that can’t sell their oil bleeding money everyday the strait is closed?
If this goes on long enough; they’ll make a deal with Iran and start making oil transactions in yuan. Bye bye petrodollar

This.

My take…the islands currently under control by Iran, allowing them to threaten closure of the Strait…let’s just say that they may not have that option much longer.
The USS Tripoli (LHS-7) is in route, and I believe that it’s a game changer.
2500 Marines with specialized skills, coupled with 20 F35’s (parked on the entrance of the Straits) can do things a carrier can’t.
The biggest issue going forward is de-mining the Strait.
With true (not partial) air cover, the minesweepers on site can really put in the work.
Iran is on the clock imho.
I would suggest that once the Strait is secure, they are done for.
I don’t foresee that a large scale invasion will be necessary.

Yet You think it's a fore gone conclusion.
They killed all their leaders and still no regime change. They’ve been preparing for this war for decades and have tunnel cities buried in the mountains. Meanwhile all of our bases are completely exposed. Israel is exposed and getting bombarded.
This isn’t the same thing as Iraq or Syria.

You realize that can take weeks or months right?

There’s simply no way you believe we have a definable exit strategy for this little excursion.

Why not?
It wasn't spelled out for MSNow?

I think he actually does believe it.

That’s a big, slow, target in the shallow strait. Besides, the bulk of the ground element isn’t on the Tripoli, it’s on whichever LPD is accompanying her.
Lincoln has an F35 squadron already.
I’m not saying we won’t move on Iran’s islands, just that I don’t know we’d do it do it amphibiously with the MEU. Would seem easier to take the airfields and similar with special forces out of the gulf states and use the marines to garrison

Gonna take a little more than a few bombs to change the regime. Otherwise it would have happened by now

They're too stupid to realize it's a total loss if we don't get our hands on their uranium. And the only way to do that is for the masses to rise up and give it to us, or we send in ground troops.

No shite Patton?
So what’s your point? You’re ok with years and years of fricking around with a toxic society of 95 million?
The only thing ground operations will do is kill Americans.

have you told the Iranians this? because that's going to be real painful for them in terms of funding...... well, pretty much anything that relates to their economy.
I imagine the people who need to "rise up" and help with the uranium won't be too pleased when Iran cuts its own throat by closing the straight for months.

So you have already assigned ground for years.

If only the global oil market wasn’t global or something.
