Here's a few Articles about this topic.

The Supreme Court is being asked to consider whether women and men should both be required to register for the draft

They are being asked not to strike down the law, but rather to consider whether it is constitutional - if it is not, it will be up to Congress to change the law
The case is being brought by women's rights groups who argue that the rare men-only rule sends the wrong signal and is discriminatory

The last time the draft was in effect was during the Vietnam War; since then it has been a voluntary force
In 1981, the court voted 6-3 to uphold the men-only registration requirement

Since then all branches of the military have been opened up to women

There was a time when I was a strong advocate for a men-only draft but I no longer feel that way.

Back in the days of the draft a guy just had to say he was queer and that was a one way ticket out of the military. If they don't make women eligible for the selective service, then draft-dodging men will simply "come-out" as trans women to avoid conscription.

Also the thought of these millennial girls having to go through basic training and even worse, no cell phone would be worth the price of admission.

With all of that said, I'll wager SCOTUS won't touch it.

As soon as our government is honest and transparent with who we are actually going to war against, and WHY we are blowing them up, then we can talk about forcing our citizens to fight in such wars. Until then, I don't think we should force 18 year olds to sign up for the draft, male or female.

We should send just as many women to the front lines as men and there should be gender equity in all KIA and POW data.

The thought of one of these purple haired land whales with no redeemable qualities other than as soldiers of the communist revolution having to sign up for Selective Service makes me giddy. Equality means equality sweetheart.

I say that as the father of two daughters, including one that is in the age range for registration.

I'll be damned at the rate this is going I'll have any of my kids sign up for that shite.

This coming from a person who tried to sign up and they wouldn't take me. All I wanted to be growing up was in the military (thanks gi Joe).

Times have changed

They would have to DRASTICALLY reduce the standards for a draft to work.

Only about 30% of the U.S. population between 17-25 (primary entry level targets) are even eligible to serve.

They're either

Too fat (can't make height and weight)
Too out of shape (can't pass physical assessment)
Medically unfit (medical disqualifiers)
Too stupid (can't pass the ASVAB)
or too crooked (criminal record)

Buddy of mines son just joined the Air Force and I am fairly certain he kept his cell phone through basic. He sure did text home a lot. I went through Air Force basic in 92...they could still get a little physical with you and yell at you and be pretty demeaning. Now, apparently they have stress cards you can present and they can’t yell at you again for like an hour. I wish I was joking.

This could be seen in sooo many ways. It's kinda interesting when you think about it.

On the one hand, okay ladies, you wanted it, you got it, put down your mascara, start push ups. This might make some back down on some demands.

On the other hand, a ruling saying its okay to not treat genders as being all equal at all times means that, no the Womens US Soccer Team players do NOT have to be paid the same amount of money that the Men's team members get. No, you do NOT need to provide for X number of Women in the corporate board room, no you do NOT need to ensure that half of the people studying a computers are female when its mostly something men want, etc.

And the next step is how does this affect things like equality between races, religions, etc.? Is this case applicable to the scandalous Biden "aid for minority farmers only" policy? If so, wouldn't a white farmer want the ruling to be in favor of the women having to be called into the army, that there can be no exceptions, anti-female but also anti-male, and anti-white but also anti-black.

This ruling could be super important in a ton of areas.

You mean zoomer (generational z). Please stop calling all young people millennials. The oldest millennial turns 40 this year and the youngest is turning 25, after this year, millennials will be ineligible for the draft.

My daughter is serving in the Air Force as I once did. They take your phone away. They will only let you use it to phone home to let the family know you arrived safely for maybe a minute and then after a few weeks they may give you 15 minutes. Only when you get near the end is when you might get a little time.

Here's a funny story..When I attended my daughter's graduation, we took her to lunch at this shopping complex next to her dorm where all of the troops go to get sundry items, uniform items, haircuts and they have some fast food places that the instructors also use. There was a new cadet that was trying to call home and he had to use a pay phone since he was not allowed his cell phone. He didn't know how to use a pay phone. I helped the kid out and moved on...LOL
The Air Force is more similar than it isn't from when I served. Anyone who has served in any decade knows there was bullshite to deal with from politicians.

Personally, I think a 2 year conscription would with a 4 year Reserve Status would do wonders for this generation. The "Free Education" crowd would see a generation of kids learning meaningful trades that could make them a damn fine living in the civilian world.

On one hand, I think this would help immensely in giving the youth discipline and maybe patriotism. On the other, I don't agree with forcing people to become cannon fodder for the globalist elites. If the military was strictly a defense force, then I would be all for it. But I'm not sending my kid to die in a foreign land so politicians and defense contractors can make even more money while the media and swamp creatures tell him he is evil just for being white and having good values.

I think women should be forced to signup for Selective Service, at the same time Selective Service should be abolished.

The world has changed and there will never be a draft again. Vietnam changed everything where over 50,000 men died for politicians.

The All Volunteer Military was born in the 1970s from that and has provided for a much more valuable asset.

In lieu of the draft though, I do buy into the 1-2 years of military training and conditioning for 18-20 year olds.
