We get their info and post it on a website. Their family is notified and have a week to come claim them. If not, they are bused out to states like Wyoming, the Dakotas

bullshite on that - don't go messing up natural wonders with that scum.

I'd rather see them all rounded up and send them to ONE big ol sanctuary city - take your pick = NYC, SF, Chi, LA, etc. Let them open their hearts and their wallets to take care of them.

In our county it’s illegal. Go one street outside out county and there they are. If you are serious, contact your elected officials and start a petition with residents of county/parish you live in. If you are in minority, you have the option to move.

What country do you live in? In the US begging is protected as free speech, the controls our government can impose are very limited.

What needs to happen in BR is our local “leaders” need to get serious about making this a criminal activity and then actually enforce the law.

Everyone wants to look the other way on this one. I don’t find the antics of drug-riddled and mentally ill vagrants on the side of the road endearing in any way. These are not honest people down on their luck. These are people looking to take advantage of charitable and naive people. And they’re more organized than you think.

What I would do... write a few local ordinances. First, no panhandling of ANY kind within 10 feet of any road in BR. This includes all the little sports teams that dart out into three lanes of traffic for a dollar.

Second, no panhandling at any fueling station in BR.

Third, and this is the one I really want... no panhandling within 1/2 mile of the LSU main campus.

Anywhere else... knock yourself out.

Can't attack the branches of the sick tree you have to treat the roots.

Most are addicted and/or mentally ill, they need help to correct that.

We need to start labeling crazy as crazy again and open up more mental facilities.

The homeless get lots of free stuff where I live, the area attracts them.

We should give them each a marked bag every morning to pick up trash and they only get served if the fill it up and return with it that evening...

They used to panhandle inside airport terminals. How did the airports get rid of the problem?

It’s illegal in our county to loiter on cubs and medians. However you want to church it up that’s the law.

This happened to me.

I was driving down Market Street in SF many years ago. Homeless walks out from behind a bus and I hit something. Pulled car over to curb to find the homeless person lying in the middle of the road. I call 911 and go to attend. She gets up and walks to sidewalk. (Turns out she stuck her cane out so that I would hit it),

Then, two lawyers that I had never met starts yelling at me. "We saw everything, you are not at fault! If she asks you for anything, don't give it to her. Let the police handle." As I come to learn, they were talking so loudly so the homeless person could hear.

Anyway, homeless person asks for a ride somewhere, I refuse. Asks for cash, I refuse. Finally, she just wanders away.

Police, EMS, never show.

I will always be grateful to those two lawyers.

Actually, since loitering is an ambiguous term, it is very hard to craft an anti-loitering law that is not unconstitutional and that works to remove begggars as begging is legal. The Courts have rejected lots of anti-loitering laws.

I can't believe that we have a homeless problem in America. We have millions of liberals that bitch and moan about all kinds of unfair things and I'm guessing many of those have spare rooms or spare condos to share.

Why doesn't that happen?

That all sounds fantastic. Beggars here go over to the next county vs trying to take panhandling to the USSC. But if you’re looking for a good time, have at it

When I was in college, a few of us were hanging out in the business building and a fricking beggar came into the building and started asking us for money. We basically laughed at him and told him we were in college and broke too.

The guy should have been arrested on the spot but there were no laws against it.

Don't ruin our pristine West with the homeless. Ship them to places that profess socialistic, welfare state ideals-pretty much where many of them are now: LA, Seattle, Portland, etc.
