CBS - College Majors With Highest Incomes

Went through the list 2x. Seems that Women's Studies, Gender Studies, DEI, etc. weren't included or folks pursuing these degrees aren't in the top 100 of college major earnings ...

As expected, STEM has privilege ... which is why math, science, and physics are obviously [fill in the blank].

It's a great day to be an engineer.

They’ll come for this next with taxpayer money. Academic fairness reparations.

Who knew that having to use your brain in engineering would pay better than a journalist or Women's Studies degree!

I'm a computer engineer and can confirm I'm making more than the median there. Pretty sure a lot of my peers are too.

Must not be in south LA. $100k seems about par for engineer income non-PE

You mean to tell me if I wear Overalls I can earn 75K? I am going to wear them all of time as my side hustle, if true.

They are indeed. I make more than the median for any of them and more than twice the median for my major, and I don't even qualify for OT Baller status.

Also explains women and their constant complaining of pay gap.

Most popular degrees for women? Nursing and politcal science.

I have an uncle with a Weapons Systems Engineering from West Point. He's lost jobs due to buyouts, layoffs, etc., but has never stayed unemployed longer than a month. He's done chemical, petroleum, and electrical. Surprisingly, the only thing he's never done is defense.

First it was there wasn't enough girls in high school interested in STEM. All the work and everything to get young women to study STEM in college never worked. They still picked soft majors.

Now they want to soften STEM majors and add an A for art to water it down. I took a history of photography class for a humanity or art elective. Easiest class hands down. Every exam was open book. Even the lectures were a joke as it was just copied from the textbook.

I recently talked my 18 year old into changing his major from Philosophy to Computer Science. I straight up told him I hope you like being a poor broke idiot if you stay with the Philosophy major.

Cybersecurity is the new hotness. CS degrees are certainly in demand for those getting into the industry, but cybersecurity degrees are hot hot.

So you're saying you didn't learn anything about the history of photography?

I am no rocket engineer, but I bet close to half the people make more than the median.

I know someone who was a Philosophy major. He's a pricipal at a private equity firm who makes more money than you or I will ever make. I hope your son enjoys the major or it's going to be a waste of time and he will resent you.

A person can have a liberal arts major and direct it into a productive field.
