Actually I'm not a recipient of the Student Loan Forgiveness. I paid off my loans 5 years ago.
He supports government handouts to college graduates over ppl who either paid off their debts or never incurred them, and is trying to rationalize it.

Ppp. Because the government forced you to close down and put people out of work.

1.) The money was for payroll, it went to their workers.
2.) It was a reaction to the government telling people they couldn't open their businesses.

What sucks about American politics is that people have a problem with taxpayers giving money to things that don't affect them, but perfectly okay receiving that same "handout" from the government when it's them.
Each PPP participate played by the rules of the game. They kept Ed people employed, with larger loans being public knowledge and subjected to audits by the SBA, IRS and their local bank. Again, rules of the game.
Student lending. If a person knowingly took debt to pay for college, regardless of the graduated or not, has to play by the rules. Why do we have to shoulder their bad decision? It’s not some random hurricane or earthquake or pandemic that hit. It was a decision to fund college with a large amount of debt.
This penalizes those who repaid their loans and those who did not go to college.
Let’s not even go to the area where Biden and the left is just buying votes. And let’s stay away from the fact Biden has no power to do this…spend from $300 to $900 BILLION with no oversight or Congressional authority. More bread for the people….we know how that story ends.

You are essentially arguing that because the government did a terrible program once, they should continue doing terrible programs.

Ahh.....So thats why people have been getting arrested because they weren't pocketing the PPP money.
The thing with Congressional people, they have legal behind them to find clever loopholes to keep the money.
This is plain ignorance. Going back to March 2020, I don't think the government really understood the ramifications of shutting down the economy, so they just threw money at the problem to ensure that people remained employed. Was there fraud? Hell yes. There is significant fraud in Medicare, which is an established government program with existing infrastructure. With PPP, the government allocated the money, and threw it at the banking institutions to distribute. The "infrastructure" to manage PPP was thrown together in a matter of weeks. Many of the banks didn't even understand it, as the qualifications kept changing, often week to week.
As someone who received PPP loans twice, the money wasn't "pocketed". We had 2 choices when COVID hit. Lay-off 80-85% of our workforce and throw those individuals on unemployment or use the PPP funds to keep employees on the payroll. In fact, several of our employees decided to leave and took unemployment because of the federal enhancement.
So, regardless, the government was going to pay one way or another...either through PPP or through unemployment benefits.
To compare this to forgiving a student loan- a loan that has parameters that are mutually agreed upon by both the individual and the lending institution- is just silly, and intellectually lazy.

Right, and if all the people who retained jobs had to go on unemployment there would have been chaos. The state labor departments could not keep up with the claims they were receiving, much less millions of additional claims had PPP not happened.

The Student Loan Forgiveness will only give $10k to most borrowers, which is very minimal.
43 million people currently with student loan debt. Some will get $10K knocked off, others will get $20K. So for shits and giggles, let's just use the lower number. How much money is 43 million times 10000?

I come here each day and give thanks that I’m not as stupid as those that post things like this.
Technically, it’s more ignorance of the facts that they display, but I consider it stupidity because these posters listen to talking points given to them instead of actually researching things for themselves.
God help our country.

So you got to use free money to pay your employees instead of out of pocket? Yeah, tap dance all you want, business owners received a huge windfall compared to the normal blue collar worker
I'm guessing you don't realize that BUSINESSES were shut down during COVID. amirite? Let me, let you in on a little clue. How was a business supposed to pay it's bills and payroll, when GOVERNMENT forces them to lock their doors? Hell, some business owners were arrested just for being open!

When they were forced to shut down by the govt, where exactly would the revenues come from to pay employees.

You simply are ignorant.
PPP, ultimately, was a payout to WORKERS. The companies were simply the mechanism to do it.
PPP should have never been needed because there should not have been a shutdown.
But, PPP was a short term issue for a very specific once in a century problem (worldwide pandemic).
Student loan forgiveness is nothing like it. And, your suggestion that is shows your ignorance. Your unwillingness to acknowledge your mistake also reflects poorly on you.
Intellectually, you are in over your head on this board.

I'm pretty sure that's false in the majority of folks. Taxpayers don't want handouts. We'd prefer (enormously) scaled back "security net" programs for the absolute downtrodden, infrastructure, and defense. Take 15 percent instead of 40 and watch America prosper.

You dont honestly believe that do you. The PPP was abused by many people and you can bet that the people listed got their cut of the PPP money.

Meanwhile Congressional Lawmakers that have been very vocal in their opposition received PPP Loan forgiveness.
The alternative to receiving a PPP loan was to lay off workers and stop paying them during the pandemic.
You're a moron if you think this is the same as taking out a student loan.

Nah. It was abused by some, but not "many." Unfortunately, our government has shown little desire to go after the ones who did not use it properly.
