quote:

There is no political solution
To our troubled evolution
Have no faith in constitution
There is no bloody revolution

We are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world

Our so called leaders speak
With words they try to jail ya
They subjugate the meek
But it's the rhetoric of failure

The Police were a great band with some pretty heavy lyrics but they’re also progressives who are probably still down with struggle for Diversity, Inclusion and Equity.

I thought for sure you were going to cite "Russians."
quote:

In Europe and America there's a growing feeling of hysteria
Conditioned to respond to all the threats
In the rhetorical speeches of the Soviets
Mister Krushchev said, "We will bury you"
I don't subscribe to this point of view
It'd be such an ignorant thing to do
If the Russians love their children too
How can I save my little boy from Oppenheimer's deadly toy?
There is no monopoly on common sense
On either side of the political fence
We share the same biology, regardless of ideology
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the Russians love their children too

People should view songs (really good ones) as poems set to music

Synchronicity II
The Police

Ohh, ohh, ohh
Ohh, ohh, ohh
Ohh, ohh, ohh
Ohh, ohh, ohh

Another suburban family morning
Grandmother screaming at the wall
We have to shout above the din of our Rice Krispies

We can't hear anything at all
Mother chants her litany of boredom and frustration
But we know all her suicides are fake

Daddy only stares into the distance
There's only so much more that he can take
Many miles away
Something crawls from the slime
At the bottom of a dark
Scottish lake

Another industrial ugly morning
The factory belches filth into the sky
He walks unhindered through the picket lines today

He doesn't think to wonder why
The secretaries pout and preen like cheap tarts in a red light street
But all he ever thinks to do is watch

And every single meeting with his so called superior
Is a humiliating kick in the crotch
Many miles away
Something crawls to the surface
Of a dark Scottish loch

Another working day has ended
Only the rush hour hell to face
Packed like lemmings into shiny metal boxes
Contestants in a suicidal race

Daddy grips the wheel and stares alone into the distance
He knows that something somewhere has to break
He sees the family home now looming in his headlights
The pain upstairs that makes his eyeballs ache

Many miles away
There's a shadow on the door
Of a cottage on the shore
Of a dark Scottish lake

Many miles away
Many miles away
Many miles away
Many miles away
Many miles away

When I first heard "Roxanne" I thought he had the most ridiculous excuse for a "Jamaican" accent I'd ever heard: "you don 'ave to put out thee red light..."

I couldn't believe people took it seriously

Now you can join the ranks of the illustrious
In history's great dark hall of fame
All our greatest killers were industrious
At least the ones that we all know by name

But you can reach the top of your profession
If you become the leader of the land
For murder is the sport of the elected
And you don't need to lift a finger of your hand

Fascinating song. Its about the Jungian concept of synchronicity. I hear it a bit different from time to time, but it was the doorway for me to Jungs work.

Reagan was kind of the Pre-Trump. Liberals hated Nixon, but Reagan is the first one I can remember where Libs just lost their minds over the guy. He was the first one that they really started calling "Fascist", but also about what an idiot it was. This is a theme they repeated with Dubya and Trump: evil psycho fascist masterminds, but also idiots that couldn't tie their own shoes. Cognitive Dissonance is a base trait of the liberal.

Their reunion stop at the Smoothie King Center in 2007 wasn't too shabby for a bunch of old dudes

Biden's favorite song is obvious

The afternoon has gently passed me by
The evening spreads itself against the sky
Waiting for tomorrow, it's just another day
As I bid yesterday goodbye

Bring on the night
I couldn't stand another hour of daylight
Bring on the night
I couldn't stand another hour of daylight

The future is but a question mark
Hangs above my head there in the dark
Can't see for the brightness is staring me blind
As I bid yesterday goodbye

Bring on the night
I couldn't stand another hour of daylight
Bring on the night
I couldn't stand another hour of daylight

Bring on the night
I couldn't stand another hour of daylight
Bring on the night
I couldn't stand another hour of daylight

Couldn't stand another hour of daylight
Couldn't stand another hour of daylight
Couldn't stand another hour of daylight
I couldn't stand another hour of daylight
Couldn't stand another hour of daylight
I couldn't stand another hour of daylight
Couldn't stand another hour of daylight
Couldn't stand another hour of daylight
Couldn't stand another hour of daylight
Couldn't stand another hour of daylight
