Stern's ratings are in serious decline. Joe Rogan is up and coming with the younger demo. Stern gets @ 1 million listeners and Rogan pulls in 11 million. Stern is a sellout to the left and it has cost him dearly.
Stern has an older following and is the cornerstone for XM radio, and that is the only thing keeping him relevant. When XM drops him or "renegotiates his contract, he will fade out. At 69, I'd say he's shot his wad.
