Sounded like a racist comment to me.

But since he’s yammering about having three white guys on the team, the Celtics with Bird, Ainge, and McHale were pretty good.
Ainge was good.

Ainge was important.

But Ainge was no Parish.

Actually, what he said was the purest and most accurate statement of racism.

Racism:

The belief that race is a fundamental determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.

You’re forgetting Walton. I know he wasn’t really part pf the core for that era but he was key for their greatest team in 86.

I bet they win more games next year.

If their defense doesn’t decline as much as I think it will and Kessler/Doncic stay healthy they will be very good.

Doncic is worth (or maybe second to Jokic) more in points per game than any player in the history of the game.

Not hyperbole.

Yes it was 100% racist, he knew it and knew he’d face no consequences for it. Even apologized to co workers and bosses just to make sure he was covered. People like Smith, who helped usher in the ghetto era of basketball are so infuriated by foreign players, many of them white, dominating the league, they look for every chance to lash out about it.

In NBA history, when have you seen your three most prominent players on a basketball team all be white, and that takes you to the promised land?

80s Celtics

That’s only if you foolishly consider Ainge more “prominent” than Parrish or DJ.

I'm not forgetting anyone.

Smith talked about the Three Top Players. Parish was the starting center for the Celtics in 1986. Parish was an All-Star who averaged 16.1 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in 31.7 minutes per game.

Walton was NOT one of the Three Top Players for the Celtics in 1986. He was not even a starter. Walton was a sixth man who averaged 7.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in 19.3 minutes,

Now do a statement about the likelihood of a team led by 3 black guys winning a math contest.

I do think that at the very least he'll be suspended and will have to issue a retraction and apology.

They probably won't fire him, but he'll be publicly canceled.

Why should it matter if they win games? Time will tell, but I believe the Lakers' front office knows better than Stephen A what they are trying to accomplish....conversely, imagine Lee Corso saying a particular team should have hired a white QB instead of a black QB....he would have lost his job.

I never said he was.

SAS yammered about a basketball team not being able to win with 3 prominent white players.

You’re saying a starting player wasn’t prominent?

Ok.

This is actual racism.

Not implied. Not insinuated.

Direct actual racism.

I’m not 100%, but I’m pretty sure majority of the league was white when it first started. Probably a pretty good chance that your best guys were white.
