Challenging the Almighty is not a good idea.

Trump should use that in a campaign ad.

Yes. We shouldn't judge the individual that corrected the Catholic Church for breaking God's Commandment against Idolatry. For all we know, God might well reward the individual who damaged the Idol, right?
In some ways, all church buildings might be interpreted to be Idols, maybe. I mean, if somebody reads the Bible and reaches that conclusion, who are we to say he's wrong?

What do you want to bet the dumbass who did this thought he was taking out a slaveowning founding father?

They need to replace the broken-off head with a black Jesus head so they won't mess with it again.

Anyone damaging the property of someone else should be prosecuted. I was only providing an alternative view that there really isn't a loss for that church other than an idol which has no power, got destroyed.

Brett Bairre just told me that the Evangelical vote is going to flip to Joe Biden?
Does big fat Teddy Bairre mean the same Biden party where BLM are walking into Christian churches and assaulting church members? They are flipping their vote to support that?

How do we know that it is an Idol?

you are very ignorant and uninformed and interpret scripture wrong. you guys take it all out of context. it means you are not to worshsip any graven images of false GODs like the pagans did.
The bible actually tells man to make a graven image.
here educate yourself.
quote:
In Numbers, 21:8-9, God commandsMoses to make a graven image: “And the Lord said to Moses, ‘Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and every one who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.’ So Moses made a bronze serpent, and set it on a pole; and if a serpent bit any man, he would look at the bronze serpent and live.”
quote:
So, not only are graven images not forbidden to be made, but God Himself commands the making of one! And, this graven image is used, by God, in a religious context, to heal those who had been bitten by serpents after they had grumbled against God. And, in the New Testament, this graven image is even seen as an Old Testament type of Christ: “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him may have eternal life,” (John 3:14-15). The graven image of the serpent had a religious purpose!
quote:
There are a number of other places in Scripture where God commands the making of graven images, and it is always within a religious context. In Exodus 25:18-19, God commands the making of the two cherubim of gold that are on either side of the mercy seat that sits atop the Ark of the Covenant.
quote:
This whole passage from Exodus 20 is all about the fact that there is one God we should worship. It begins with, “I am the Lord your God,” and ends with “I the Lord your God am (a jealous God).” The operative word is “I.” One. There is one God that the Israelites are to worship. Furthermore, the words that seem, to Protestants, to prohibit the making of a graven image or of any likeness of anything in heaven or on earth are proceeded by: “You shall have no other gods before Me,” and they are followed by: “…you shall not bow down to them or serve them.” Which means, given the context, this is not an absolute prohibition upon the Israelites against the making of graven images or any likeness of things in heaven or on earth, rather they are being prohibited from making such images and then turning around and worshipping them.

The church of Thyatira is definately promised to go into the the great tribulation in Rev 2:22,
But is Philadelphia made the same promise?
Rev 3:10.
The main questions the Thessalonians asked Paul was about the end of times. So what kind of believers is 1 Thessalonians 5:9 speaking of?

Exodus 20:4
“You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea."
That statue is an assumed likeness of our redeemer Yeshua who is in heaven.
Let me ask it this way, what value is that image to any man? Is it not just clay molded by another human? It serves no purpose other than fabricated piety. We walk by spirit, not by sight.
Posted on 7/17/20 at 10:23 pm to Fat Bastard
First of all, ex 20:4 does not mention worship of idols, it says "You shall not make any image", meaning God interprets those to be offensive, not me.
Secondly all of your examples were a DIRECT command from God to a specific individual for a specific purpose and time, not for us to make whatever we want for any purpose we want. God wasn't giving us a mandate or blueprint for how to make graven images, but rather they were given to illustrate the purpose and goal of the life of Jesus. They could later be used to measure the life of Christ against those illustrations to prove He was who He said He was!
Show me your mandate from the Most High to make any graven image.
Catholics are always the most offended when you show them scripture that is in direct opposition to their doctrines. "Don't take away my statues, not my hollow, empty, porcelain statues!" I look at it this way, if statues were okay, I've lost very little if I go through life without one, for a statue does not heal, speak, love, or edify in any way. However, if I am correct, then what you support is a sin.
