Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson got her wish.

Starbucks is cutting hundreds of its corporate workers as part of a restructuring that began in May.
The Seattle-based coffee giant is laying off 224 workers across the company’s Seattle headquarters and remote positions, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification reviewed by The Seattle Times.
The layoffs include 120 corporate employees who refused offers to move to its new Nashville, Tenn., office and 104 employees on a team that oversees the design and construction of its shops. Employee cuts will take effect on Oct. 19 and be completed by Nov. 1.
The company said the layoffs mark the end of a global restructuring announced in May that involved laying off 252 corporate employees.
In January, Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol promised to pursue steep cost savings, including $2 billion in cuts over the next two years.
“We’re going to be unrelenting” on cuts, Niccol told investors at the time.

They could probably save half that immediately by laying out the C-suite

Forget the 120, who didn't make it. Think about the ones who did make it. Nashville just gained an influx of shitty progressives. This is exactly how Austin went from weird Democrats to shitty progressives. Austin should be a lesson to other urban areas.

How can they need financial restructuring? They charge $9 for a cup of coffee that costs about 20 cents to make, and do this about 100 million times a day.

Can you imagine being one of those 120 who refused the Nashville move, somehow thinking they’ll luck into some other corporate position in fricking Seattle? Literally a city hemorrhaging industry, and they think they’re gonna walk in somewhere there and be like “hey, look at what I bring to the table…”
These people were probably grossly overpaid. They looked the gift horse of moving to Nashville in the mouth, and they think other corporate entities are hiring. In Seattle.
Nashville, you dodged 120 terrible voters worth of a massive bullet.

Black coffee costs $2.95…which is expensive, but not $9.
If what you order costs that much it’s gotta be a frappa fagga latte.

They "refuse" to move. Time for them to find a new job. I support Starbucks in these layoffs.

And the other half was already saved on taxes by moving out of Seattle

You have to be one ignorant southerner to celebrate an evil, liberal corp. moving their headquarters to the south. They were complicit in the destruction of Seattle and they will be the same in Nashville.

Nashville being a cool city is so 2013…

Those folks absolutely felt they are too good and are better than the people in the south and would never stoop so low as to move to MAGA country
They’re so miserable

The Pacific Northwest is a nicer place to live than Nashville.

Sure. But is it a nice place to live when you literally have no money?
A great reality show would be following these 120 people around and see how their lives are in a year. They all think they’re gonna walk into Microsoft, Amazon or Boeing and be well received?
How is working in the PNW when you lost a $135K job and now you’re a barista? Or working at Whole Foods? Or working at Dicks?

Maybe they found other jobs? Why are you people always so dramatic?
