I emailed a tip to the advocate that Cooper’s office will be releasing a statement about this “executive order” this afternoon so hopefully the news will cover it. This is a big deal we can’t let local governments try to give themselves such powers.

Michael Cooper, I know you read TD and I bet you are shitting your pants right now.

I just sent this e-mail. Let's see if I get a response.

Dear Mr. Cooper,

The executive order that was issued by you on August 3, 2021 has come to my attention. I am concerned with the portion of the order that states "Michael B. Cooper, as Parish President, maintains the authority to assume total control of the Parish including, but not limited to, all PRIVATE (my emphasis added) and public properties and utilities to ensure the safety, health, and welfare of the citizens and property of this Parish and issue all necessary orders." It is clear to me what you are stating here, but I would like to hear your reasoning behind this statement; especially in reference to private property. You see, the property I live on has been in my family since 1854, and I can assure you that no man or beast will ever have control of it outside of myself or my immediate family. Sir, this executive order should be rescinded immediately, and your resignation submitted. No "leader" worth their salt anywhere in the United States of America should ever issue a statement such as this. Any "leader" that does should immediately have their "leadership" called into question.

Thank you,

The Fonz

I'm thinking Mike Cooper should be a candidate for early retirement and ouster from office. No way this frick should get to spend any more of my tax dollars on lunch or Thursdays at Sal and Judy's

I don’t have Facebook or Twitter but I hope other people will decide to share the documents I posted in the OP on their social media.

This outrageous power grab needs state and national media attention.

This came up on Walton and Johnson this morning so they have probably started getting a lot of calls about it.

his office called into the show too after they started talking about it

I didn't actively listen to the interview when he was on as I was doing work stuff (and live in Rapides Parish... not St. Tammany) at the time... but if you want to go listen to the interview it should be uploaded now to the W&J app in the 9 AM hour

Somebody start a recall petition. Freak him.
Always thought the guy looked like a POS Worm Politician
Any exercise of authority over private property is a "taking" without just compensation under the US Constitution. Surprised somebody has not already sued him in his government AND individual capacity.

So is this just boilerplate language that is in every emergency order?

Still seems like it's unnecessary.

Let's recall his arse. It is possible. How about we stop bitching on forums and facebook and actually do something about it!

In Katrina such an order would have allowed them to use your boat for rescue efforts.

There is NO REASON for this broad language about our private property to address a pandemic.

Time to start showing these corrupt ignorant lunatics who is really in charge. Only way besides dragging them into the streets is through recalls at the state level. Unfortunately, the people are screwed from a federal level or Cassidy would be gone.

Gotta love those small-government Republicans running St. Tammany Parish. No wonder we elected JBE twice.

Cooper has been shitting on private property rights since his position on the Covington planning and development board 20+yrs ago.

Edit: He is the very reason for that shite development called Savanahs with houses on top each other like freaking Kenner.

100 agree and I'm wondering if this was in all the previous orders issued. Just seems like this is a boilerplate thing and not really something meant to be nefarious.

But it looks terrible.

There are several hundred acres for sale on 1077 next to our property. I pray to God every day that this doesn't become some DR Horton/DSLD future slum like the old Tantella Ranch property.

If this is boiler-plate, it’s time for a revolution.
