Is that true?

Could a country club offer a whites only member event?

Could the NFL have a white people day where non-whites aren’t allowed to attend?

Could a different private institution have a whites only graduation day?

If it gets ANY funding from Minnesota or the Feds, FOR ANYTHING, and they do, they all do, they're subject to judicial scrutiny.

Damn straight it is. Attorneys should be lining up.
I suspect that “St. Olaf” is a private institution. What state of federal law do you posit they might be violating. Please don’t say “The Constitution.”. Again, a private entity.

Assuming a cause of action exists, what are the damages? I suspect that the kids’ transcripts will confirm completion of their coursework.

So, a crappy thing to do, but that does not necessarily give rise to a cognizable claim.

ETA: Can you just imagine the shitstorm that would ensue if Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC, decided to do something similar, except it was leaving out the queers? The melts would be unforgettable. Bob Jones is a private school, BTW.
Agreed

Federal courts have used the Commerce Clause and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to justify prohibiting private bars and restaurants from excluding persons based on race.

May I identify as a St Olaff College grad even though I have never attended? I mean, who would want to, but while we're pretending?

Think she is from a town named St Olaf, though the school may be located there as well.

And that was my first thought upon hearing St Olaf as well.

St. Olaf....
From Catholic encyclopedia ..
quote:

Olaf was the son of Harold Grenske, a lord in Norway. Olaf Haraldsson, often called "the Fat", spent his youth as a pirate. He was baptized in Rouen, and in 1013, went to England to aid King Ethelred against the Danes. He returned to Norway in 1015, captured most of Norway back from the Danes and Swedes, defeated Earl Sweyn at the battle of Nesjar in 1016, and became king. He set about unifying and Christianizing his realm, but the harshness of his rule precipitated a revolt of the nobles in 1029,

Seriously, when you hear the name 'Olaf' don't you think of a fat guy?

Scandinavian ancestry. When you look at what's happening in Sweden it makes perfect sense.

You have me at a disadvantage. I have no idea who Josh Gad is nor what 'Frozen' is. I'm still watching some great Gunsmoke reruns from 1956.

frick retiring in Minnesota. The only thing worse than being 90 is being 90 through a six month winter of -15 temps.
