What about Baby Cakes????
But seriously, if I were on the SG committee or whatever they call it, I would start a contest and have citizens put forth a name so that when it was time to pull the trigger and start a new petition, I'd have a fresh start, a new name and some buzz around the issue.

Are you thinking about changing sides?

I respect that.
Any free thinker should be able to change his mind if he or she sees fit.
I hope you join my side, you are an effective poster.

They should just call it the city of Pottery Barn

Well, how did Central get away with it, and SG not seemingly be able to get past 1st base?

I believe incorporation of a new city would be a net negative for the parish due to creating an extra bureaucracy and redundant services which would require extra tax money, and under deliver on promises. Whites won't flock to the new schools and the added taxes to build those schools will push more people into AP and LP. I think this issue could be solved much more easily by Baton Rouge annexing the developed areas and building an extra high school out there.
However, what the "Better Together" folks are doing is far more damaging to the city than any incorporation effort ever could be.

not sure what the argument against it is now. if they want to do break off, the only way they'll be able to afford public schooling is a hefty hike in property taxes.

We would like clarification on exactly what LSU President F. King Alexander meant when he said, "We worked together successfully about a year and a half ago to make sure the city wasn't split in half." Is he saying that LSU, a publicly funded university in Louisiana, (Louisiana House of Representatives, Louisiana State Senate, Louisiana Board of Regents) or its employees, was actively involved in a political effort who's number one goal was to prevent Louisiana residents from voting (Louisiana Secretary of State, Office of the Louisiana Attorney General)? Was there any financial or in-kind support (LSU Foundation, Tiger Athletic Foundation) given from LSU to fund an active political organization working to keep people from voting? Perhaps we can get an answer when LSU publically testifies in front of House Appropriations or Senate Finance on Hosue Bill 1 (the state's budget)? WWLTV, NOLA.com, The Advocate (Baton Rouge, LA), KPEL News, Talk 107.3, Jeremy Alford-LaPolitics, Moon Griffon, WAFB Channel 9, Greg Hilburn, The Hayride. Tucker Carlson Tonight
St. George is mainly about schools, right? They should probably try to proofread their statements before putting them out. FFS.

Woodlawn's enrollment is shrinking. They went from 5A to 4A. There's room for more kids.

For all of you left in EBR, it's over, done. BR will never be like it was when we were kids. Why continue to support a Parish and City Government who will piss all of your tax revenues away on nonsense directed at Capital Heights, Scotlandville, Glen Oaks, Melrose, Etc...Do like my parents did, just move.

What's wrong with Capital Heights? It's one of the nicest parts of the city!
