Ascension would only get an immediate infusion of class.

The lack of class is a part of Ascension's charm, imo. It does not matter how large your home is. Wealth is not the measure of a man, but rather his word, and his works....and maybe his boat.

Is it too much to ask that immigrants to our sacred ancestral homeland adopt the customs and cultural norms of the people they seek to live among? Our people have experienced prosperity and an enviable way of life for centuries. These customs are a part of that success. To erode our values is to wear away the foundation that enabled our success. We do not want to accept any more people who hold our native customs in contempt.

If we just sit here na na waiting on our ya ya, our children will grow up in a place just like everywhere else, with the same problems and struggles as the outside world.

Those who seek refuge in the land of the Ascension, should try and learn the ways of its people. Their children should be instructed in the ways of the minipot, and learn our sacred dance at our annual great festival.

Those who would not tee na na, should not mess with our toot toot. They can have the other parishes, but don't mess with our toot toot.

Livingston is seeming like a better alternative after reading that.

The Free State of Livingston offers its own challenges. While some in the southern portion still keep the sacred traditions, those in the north are little more than redneck scallywags, carpetbaggers, and meth'd out pillagers.

none so far. Just know that whatever the decision, it will be appealed by one party or the other.

We know why StG would appeal.

What grounds would BR have for appeal if they lose? “We’d lose too much tax money” shouldn’t be it as long as it is a consolidated city-parish because the money isn’t leaving the parish. It’s just not in the kitty BR is using to balance their budget.

Is there a chance that the lawsuit negates the vote? I understand the appeal from the St. George side would occur, but is there a chance St. George doesn't go through due to this lawsuit?

Loss of Revenue, and also Lewis Unglesby will have to show how the incorporation of SG damaged him in some way. Not sure how he'll prove that though,

It's going to end up in the La. Supreme Court. I don't see them overturning a democratic election result that followed every rule.

Holy shite. She just refuted the central tenet upon which the opposition was founded.

And if NBR were carrying water for StG, wouldn’t NBR be saying “Don’t let the door hit you” rather than forcing them to stay?

That's precisely my point. All we've heard is about how NBR will basically be penniless if SG breaks away, now she's upset that NBR will have to subsidize SG. This is what happens when you have no real message other than "white people be evil n shite".

Baton Rouge is a complete mess. St. George is the only viable option, and one way or another it will pass. ISD's have worked well in many other places.

And any argument that the new St. George leadership is "wet behind the ears" or "out of their league" (as MOP would have you believe) should remember that they could hardly do worse than the current gaggle of baboons and clowns who seem hellbent on turning the capital city into the next Gary, Indiana.

Unfortunately this process will take some time, but I have faith in the end there will be a new shining city on the hill. Viva St. George!

STG is not seceding from EBRP. We will still pay taxes to the City-Parish Government. Mayor-President Broome will still be our Parish President.

MOP kept saying this was premature, but in the event the legal hurdles are cleared it’s imperative that SG organizers be ready to move forward in an expeditious manner. MOP wasn’t making sense.
Furthermore, she looked bad when she said she hadn’t read the amendments even though she stated she had been fooled already by the amendment process.
