St. George transition bill (SB423 - Bodi White), voted favorable 5-1 in committee today. Karen Carter Peterson the only nay vote. Mary Olive Peterson put on her usual dog-and-pony show. MOP showed up with a list of objections pertaining to the retirement system, and Franklin Foil pulled the rug out from under her by announcing that all of those objections had been settled in amendments by working with the head of the retirement board. The look on her face was priceless. For once she was without words. Sen. Regina Barrow (D - District 15 NBR) claims that her district was "carrying water" for the St. George area in tax revenue.

If NBR is carrying water it’s because they stole it from someone else.

So when will St. George take over the schools and when will they tell everyone going to school there sorry, you have to live in the city of St. George to go to these schools!
That is the battle that I am waiting on! Can't wait to save thousands in private school tuition.

I think she is confusing required subsidies with tax revenue.

City first, then the schools

What's this mean in steps towards the city? What all needs to get done? It's been a while since this has been in the news or talked about.

St. George is happening no matter how much they do not want it too. They can fight it, but they are just pissing in the wind.

It allows the city to begin negotiating the transition with the City-Parish. The incorporation is still in a lawsuit for now. Just a minor delay

LMAO. Ascension would only get an immediate infusion of class. It would be like the USA becoming a part of Mexico
