You have everything backwards. Society will collapse if you don't do something. The only reason you aren't starving is because the military forces other nations to accept paper in exchange for goods. In the face of this, you propose doing nothing, which guarantees economic collapse. You cannot maintain the current system, because it is a house of cards.

The space "elevator" is one of the more outlandish things I've ever heard.

The only reason we aren't starving is because we use enough energy, clear enough land, and engage enough labor to produce enough food to feed the world two times over.

Why? I’ve seen it talked about in science fiction for 40 years at least. It will become reality eventually just like cell phones and microwaves.

It may indeed happen in the future. But the premise of the OP is it is happening now? and if we don't do something? Disclose aliens, disclose lizard aliens, and climb it? we will all die.

I love science fiction but this is an anon, we are to believe is what? an insider? an Alien warning us? it is non fiction?

The premise is simply read the threads linked. I placed the quote in the OP which was of interest, but it should be taken in complete context.

If this is your first exposure to the topics within, I envy how it might feel to think them afresh.

Lol.

I still remember the folks suggesting that there will be a radio message from trump:

My fellow Americans, the storm is upon us

You damn loons.

Can one of you smart baws explain how a space elevator would work for us simpletons?

It's not that complicated, as the original design was proposed by N. Tesla, and further explained by Paul Birch in the 1980s. This video provides a good synopsis of the Orbital Ring variety as opposed to the geocentric tether-design most people imagine.

I'm not an engineer and I get the gist of it.

The reason it's an important project is because it reduces launch costs (once built) for the development of space-based industry, including deploying solar arrays (outside the earth's atmosphere they can be huge and more efficient) as well as creating the foundation for asteroid mining.

I remember when this guy first popped up. He seems like some autist anon who's been watching too many Isaac Arthur videos. He's not wrong in that a space elevator of the orbital ring variety, if built and functional, would open up space exploration/exploitation and would very likely usher in a new age of human expansion throughout the solar system. However, he brushes off all concerns as something that "easily" taken care of and comes off as someone who just can't get past a "good idea" they've had.

Still, it's really fun to think about.

Well....there was people waiting for an EBS or oval office announcement 'the storm is upon us' 'commence all bad guys to GTMO' via prison barge.

Or something to happen when Trump was overseas.

Observing Q critics talk about the finer points of what Q actually said is like watching an episode of Kids Say the Darnedest Things when they ask them where babies come from.
