There's going to be a lot of dead people in the wake of saving this country.
And there's going to be a lot of money made in the cemetery and crematorium businesses.

Because of its history of slavery. Will call itself "Great Baptist Convention". Just when you think you've seen it all.

That is the biggest BS article I've ever read. He's equating people who lived in the 1850's with people that live in 2020.

Thanks for posting that link.
Wow, I will never understand how someone like the author of that article, and editor of the New Yorker, can have such hatred for America, and white christians.

chattel slavery
Slavery has been around since mankind has been around. Just because liberals decided to use it for their political advancement for the past 30 years doesn't change their past as slave owners.

With Halloween approaching, the first thing that occurred to me is “It’s the Great Baptist, Charlie Brown!”

He also uses disagreeing with provably false statements on race, systemic racism and police targeting as proof of racism.
For instance:
And
For instance:
quote:
nearly two-thirds of white Christians over all said that killings of African-American men by the police are isolated incidents rather than part of a broader pattern of mistreatment; and more than six in ten white Christians disagreed with the statement that “generations of slavery and discrimination have created conditions that make it difficult for blacks to work their way out of the lower class.”
And
quote:
In his new book, “White Too Long” (Simon & Schuster), Robert P. Jones, the head of the Public Religion Research Institute, a nonpartisan polling and research organization, marshals this and other data to lay out a startling case that “the more racist attitudes a person holds, the more likely he or she is to identify as a white Christian.” The correlation is just as pronounced among white evangelical Protestants as it is among white mainline Protestants and white Catholics—and stands in stark contrast to the attitudes of religiously unaffiliated whites. Jones’s findings make for some wrenching inferences. “If you were recruiting for a white supremacist cause on a Sunday morning, you’d likely have more success hanging out in the parking lot of an average white Christian church—evangelical Protestant, mainline Protestant, or Catholic—than approaching whites sitting out services at the local coffee shop,” he writes.

quote:actually, that wouldn't make any sense. great commission has been talked about for a while because it reflects the baptist charter. at this point, southern doesn't make any sense because the people in question have been doing mission work all over the world for quite some time now.
hey should actually drop the "baptist" part and keep southern. Southern Christian Convention

as usual, there's a lot of ignorance about christianity itt and bigotry towards christians. for those of you acting all indignant about the foibles of christians, go watch episode 9 "kimmy goes to church" in season 3 of unbreakable kimmy schmidt. watch to the end. you might actually learn something about church and christians.

There are few pastors left in BR area that really preach the word and didn't succumb to PC. Pastor Goza and Brother Tommy Middleton (retired) are appreciated. They are the righteous and not self-righteous.

You dumb SOB, they will call themselves Great Commission Baptists not just Great Baptists

Unlike the Methodists and the Presbyterians, the owners of each individual SBC are the parishioners themselves, and thus can vote to pull their churches out of the SBC. Therefore the SBC big wigs must collectively have a death wish.
