1: The government isn't confiscating your guns. It's effectively impossible even if they wanted to, and I assure you no local or federal law enforcement agency looks forward to trying it.

2: I'm routinely amazed by how many people actually believe these prposed, pandering state bills would have any practical purpose. It's like people think that passing them would somehow override or invalidate federal law. The Supreme Court has established and long held a state does not have the right to unilaterally secede, without qualifiers.

3: South Carolina can't afford to secede

There’s plenty of states that would be better off without the burdens of federal funding after the initial shock of the change, especially states in southeast and Midwest

Assuming substantial private wealth and large industries pull out of any seceding states (and of course they would) there isn't a single state which could operate independently for any real length of time without collapsing financially.

Most people have no concept of how secession would effect a state in the modern economy. Even if states weren't dependent on federal funding (they are), most Americans would be individually devastated financially if their state seceded. Depending on how their wealth was structured and where it was invested, they could literally lose everything overnight.

Id love to see more states do this.
We will be swift to follow our SC brothers again. Onward

All of you who make comments like this are nothing more than treasonous ideologues and idiots.
As much as conservatives talk about patriotism, the flag, democracy and freedom, they show little evidence of embracing those things. You're all like spoiled little brats who want to take their ball and go home.

BTW, it ain't happening. Even if it were possible you would fail. Your economies and infrastructure are so tied to the Federal government you'd be shite out of luck. Your healthcare costs would be staggering when ol' granny can't use her Medicare card at Spartanburg General Hospital. Companies would flee in big numbers. Dream on dumbasses.

Simply not true.....Red states with the exception of Texas and Georgia are all net recipients of federal money.....4-5 red states foot the entire bill.........California, New York.....mass pay all the bills in the US while middle class republicans in the south only have jobs because of federal spending......most of the south wouldn’t even be electrified without federal spending....

The main problem with your analysis is red state vs blue state”. There are lots of republicans in blue states and vice versa.

There’s two types of welfare. The south gets the food stamps and section 8 en masses while the northeast gets the grants and research dollars.

The United States is 17 Trillion dollars in debt. California alone is responsible for over 5 trillion of that. So explain to me again how they are footing the bill for the rest of the country?

You are confusing terms and making up figures....but I’m sure it works with dim witted GOPers making ‘ Merica great again.......

Yeah. Not a single government body would use the gun registry to try to confiscate legally bought and owned guns.

The democrat party, which seems to have taken a radical far left stance on just about everything, wouldn't think twice about taking our rights away if they get back in power.

om the individual mandate. That also doesn't show up on the federal books, but the net result is exactly the same as it would be if the government raised taxes on working people and cut a check to Aetna/Wellpoint.

The condition predates the individual mandate by about 35 - 50 years but nice spin...

And the individual mandate reductions in cost increases and actual premiums for those of us who were adequately insured before more than offsets the tax imposed on those who refused to provide themselves with adequate protection and inevitably wound up being a burden to the rest of us. Those of us responsible enough to be adequately insured are going to pay for those who have seen their premiums rise because they were too irresponsible to pay their way.....if you doubt this explain the number of debt collectors working in the medical field.....providers are either being paid by 5hose who can so so or they are going out of business.....

Hey if I remember my history, the south was making the country most of the money in 1860. Anyway, if the south succeeded now the north would freeze in the winter and lose most of their major military bases.

Yeah your memory is fuzzy......about 30% of the nations wealth and revenue came from the south......at the expense of slaves......had yankee manufacturers had no wages they’d have been infinitely wealthier than southern planters....as it was they were merely twice as wealthy......the south couldn’t even feed and educate itself.....we imported grain and sent our sons to Boston to educate them......all we have ever had was cheap, pliable labor

The southern cotton Farmers wanted to sell that cotton directly to England and France because the north was it tight cheap m*********** and didn't want to pay what it should have paid for it and that's the reason you had a civil war not because of black people

So your definition of freedom is using military might to force a people to remain part of a country in which they don't want to remain? Your position is actually the opposite of liberty and you sound exactly like the British did towards American independence.

I get blasted every time I say this. If anybody disagrees, all you have to do is ask them what started the war...it wasn't a big slave freedom invasion, the north blockaded the south so that cotton couldn't head for England. War is always about money, not freedoms.

This. The same Yankees who fought to "preserve the Union" in the 1860's were the one's proposing secession during the War of 1812 at the Hartford Convention because it was bad for business.
